If the wind is blowing I would harvest as soon as possible but you could harvest the next day.

Ive heard a lot of controversy around washing them, any idea why? im guessing youve never have problems with this technique

I'm in San Diego, and since the humidity today is 10 percent, I sprayed my plants this morning. I gave them a good soaking with a fine spray.
They are not quite ready for harvest yet though, so I am just taking advantage of the low humidity.

I'm just curious cause I never washed my buds before. My main concern is potency over taste, harshness, etc. Is there any loss of trichomes washing your buds? Any loss in potency even a little?
I don't really care if it's really harsh in fact I like to feel heavy smoke. Taste I don't really care about or how smooth is as long I get really high. If taste good it's an extra bonus but not my first priority. I don't want to sacrifice potency for better taste and smell. That's why I love herijuna! It taste like shit and harsh as hell but its like one the best strong highs I encountered!
That's something that really ticked me off in the dispensaries. They always raved about the terpenes and how smooth the smoke was but nothing about the actual high. It can taste wonderful but when there's a shitty high all that stuff doesn't matter anymore to me. Some people only smoke for taste I just can't wrap my mind around that!

I know that there is no loss in THC because THC tricomes are not harmed by water, but some people say it looses terpeness but im not sure about it since ive never done it

I spray them with a tap-water hose, and nozzle set to fine spray. That cleans them better than a good rain (which we seldom have here.)
You are correct that resin is not water soluble, so there is no loss of potency, just cleaner bud.
