generally they keep tap water alkaline, so its not corrosive on pumps and lines, bar the small amount of calcium and magnesium scale, i.e calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, calcium sulfate, the stuff that leaves solids on your silver taps and stainless steel sinks thats hard to remove.Australia water lol
When you pH correct the water do you do it before or after mixing in the nutes? I’m using bio bizz light mix and their starter pack for my first grow. My tap water is 8.2 pH. Should I pH correct my water to 6.2-6.5 then mix my nutes and feed, or should I mix the water, nutes, pH correct and then feed?I ph my water. I'm not very scientific, but I know if I add a little less than 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid every time I water my ph is about right. It works for me. Took this pic last night.
I know soil/soil less buffers but imo it doesjt do it to the sweet spot. Been growing for decades not that it means much but I definitely notice the difference between phing soiless and not, especially bio bizz which is what I primarily use.but yes the difference is minor and youll do fine without it.imo soil/soiless and run off ph is pretty irrelevant when growing in a medium specifically designed for cannabis, as long as your feed is going in at 6.5 your golden
Mix nutes 1st then phSo if my water is 8.2 I should pH correct the water to 6.5, mix in the feed, and then water the plant?
Thank you, I’m legit starting my first real grow (grew it one time before years ago with a crappy light in a closet), but decided to get back into it seriously.Mix nutes 1st then ph
I ph before adding nutes. Nutes don't seem to change it much. Thank you. Are you also running bio bizz buffered soil and “organic” bottled nutes? Just curious. It’s so anxiety provoking because bio bizz says not to pH drop the water because the micro herd will level out the pH, but as I said, mine is really alkaline (8.2) so it doesn’t seem wise to not reduce the pH (at least a little bit). I’m thinking by using such alkaline water it will run through any buffering agents in the soil quicker than if I used a closer matched pH.I ph before adding nutes. Nutes don't seem to change it much. I use Nector for the gods #4 soil, and fox farm nutes. I keep things simple. I ph my water to 6.0 to 6.5, add my nutes at 1/2 strength, pretty much follow their schedule, and I always come out with a nice yield. Last grow I lst'd for the first time, and I really liked that, and will continue.Thank you. Are you also running bio bizz buffered soil and “organic” bottled nutes? Just curious. Thoughts?
Mines near the same 7.8. Robs me ph down if i dont feed with my shit water, like 1.5ml to a gal to get down to 6.0Thank you, I’m legit starting my first real grow (grew it one time before years ago with a crappy light in a closet), but decided to get back into it seriously.
ive got a bunch of autos, bio bizz light mix, and their liquid feeds, and then was mortified to see my water is 8.2pH.
Thank you for the reply!
Your pH goes below 6.0 if you don’t feed with your alkaline water? Interesting, is this because the nutes are so acidic? I ended up finding a purified RO water that sits at 6.5 on the pH meter. For this grow I’m going to roll with that and supplement organic cal mag as needed and go from there. If my pH goes too low I can always supplement with my tap water as necessary... I think...Mines near the same 7.8. Robs me ph down if i dont feed with my shit water, like 1.5ml to a gal to get down to 6.0
