Is it ok to run 315 cmh 24/0

I can't remember where I saw it but i read someone was having problems with their cmh bulb or ballast when using it constantly.

I veg 18/6 but might try 24/0 next run and was wondering if anybody has had problems when running the light constantly.

You could. Should always give a dark period, though. Many processes happening during the dark, root growth chief among them. Plants will work these out in the light but not as well and waste alot of energy to do so. Hard pass on 24/0

Yea I've always gone with 18/6 but I do like to experiment so I was just making sure it wouldnt cause any issues with my new light if I decide to try it.

I am 3 weeks away from harvest and the plants seem to be loving the mix of cmh and a 600 watt hps. Next run I will have a second cmh and will flower with a 930 agro and 942 bulb to see how that works.

As far as experiments go, this one has been repeated plenty of times. You might get 10% more growth by adding 6 hours of light bill, it's just not worth it and it's stressful to the plants. But by all means go ahead.

Yea it seems like its one of those never ending debates just like flushing before harvest which I dont do.

Electricity isnt very expensive where I live and I would have to have a heater on during lights out anyways so it wouldn't really cost any more.

Cannabis doesn't need a dark phase.

And by definition, a plant can't grow in the dark. Growth requires photosynthesis which requires light.

Shorter veg times, shorter node spacing, easier to maintain temps and RH = 24/0

Yea I've read so many opinions I figure i might try it myself.

I did see a video where a guy did one plant with 18/6 and one with 24/0. The one that had a dark period did have bigger roots so they must like the night period.

I run my 315 veg light 18-6...the plants love it and you save energy costs. I use it over a 3 1/5 x 6 space. FANTASTIC.

I was going to swap it out for a 240 watt 4k board but the 315 keeps the veg area nice and warm and works like a champ !

you should try it out yourself.
i grow in waterfarms and the roots are a solid cube after every grow using 24/0. so i don't know how there could be even more roots using a different cycle.

The plants definitely love the cmh. I have a 5x5 tent but only use 4x4 for plants.

I used the 942 philips bulb for veg and added a 600 watt hps for flower. I am hoping the cmh will add some frost and the hps will help with yield.

I am not sure why the roots were bigger but he wasnt trying to sell a product that supposedly make roots bigger or anything like that so i believe it was an unbiased experiment.

I have pretty much the same setup.
315 Cmh and 600 hps in a 4x4.
First run with them.
18/6. 1 month autos. They seem to work nicely together. Will see what the yield is like.
I have ran the cmh 24/0 before with no issues.

Thats good to know it can be run all the time without problems. I didnt think it would be an issue but I just wanted to make sure.

Ive never grown autos and probably never will since i like to have full control of the plant and I scrog but nice lookin ladies you have there.

Yeah, this is my first run of them too.
And my last...

They're too finicky for me, I just needed some smoke asap.
:)

But yeah. Cmh kicks ass. Mine is in a yield master 6" air cooled hood and only raises rent temp by 1-2 degrees where the HPS in same hood = +4-6 deg.
I have the HPS running into the cmh to the exhaust to help distribute the heat a bit more evenly over the canopy.

I did a lot of research on cmh before buying and its not recommended to air cool cmh as it will affect the spectrum. In the future you might want to think about using a non air cooled hood or get one made for cmh where the air is pulled through a chamber above the bulb.

I'll have to look into that.
Never heard about it.

Figured with all the air cooled kits they sell it wouldn't be an issue.
Thanks!

It does grow, I come into a room right when the lights come on and you can see new growth at the tops is light green from no light, it greens up quickly after the lights come on. Yeah they need photosynthesis but they do grow in the dark.

well then why are you using 18/6? you'd have more growth if you went to 16/8 or 14/10. :bigjoint:
