Too many holes for drainage ?

Stated a Sour Kush clone a week ago using Fox Farm Happy Frog soil in a 5 gal bucket that I drilled a lot of holes in the bottom and the lower sides about an inch apart. I'm getting drainage after adding only 32oz of water every 36 hours or so. Did I put too many holes in bucket ? Temp in 3x3x6 tent using a 400 watt HP bulb, it is apx 70 degrees (tent is in basement in VT) . Not sure she's getting enough water ???? Add more water and deal with drainage (not a big deal) or use a bucket with less drainage (would rather not move to new bucket if possible) ? Thanks

Honestly i would leave it alone . My two cents i rather have to keep up with her more than end up with root issues . Also i have a small pot that i drilled holes everywhere on it,even up to the sides. Was trying to air prune roots she is doing ok at 7 wk flw. I think i answered your Q..... super blowed lol

Why are your watering so strange? Fill and flood the container when you put the clone in and let it dry completely before watering again. Seriously, let the leaves START to wilt. My 5 gallon containers are good for a week after I put the clones in them before they're thirsty again. It's mid flower before they need hit every day or every other day.

Well, that's with fabric pots. Hard plastic pots could probably go longer.

He is watering funny because it is a five gallon pot - do i water it all and wait ages for it to dry or try and water a little and get a good wet/dry cycle as info suggests.....

Just dont use big pots for small plants until you have mastered small pots for small plants. The right size pot would see him saturating the entire volume of soil and achieving a good frequent wet/dry cycle :-)

Not gonna argue but can you point me at that info?
Personal experience has shown me better root growth and stronger plants overall, even putting month old clones in 100 gallon pots for an outdoor run, by thoroughly watering in, letting it dry completely, and using that as the watering cycle instead versus doing many smaller waterings. I only water when they're thirsty, light pots, lower leaves starting to droop.
I'm open to new info and experimentation though.

Indoors is not outdoors, smaller volumes give us better control

Anyone decent probably do it many ways but to start with it just helps you get a hang of things.

Most commercial plants are started in plugs - hope that helps :-)
