Hi guys, quick question, ive been using an Omega super lumens bulb hps with an Omega digital ballast with 250/400/600 and super lumens option ever since seedlings as that's all i've had, i've got it on 400w setting as i'm using a 1m x1m tent, i'm only into 2 weeks but was thinking i'd be better with a MH bulb until flowering, is it ok to switch at this point? TIA

Yes
Make sure to run your bulb @ 600w for the first hour though to break it in. Mfg page should give you thier recommendations.

A metal halide has more blue spectrum and that makes for shorter internode distances and a more compact plant. In veg this is often desirable. Match the wattage setting on the ballast to the lamp and you will be ok.

I am pretty sure you are not running with a vertical lamp but if you are then you need a special "base up" metal halide lamp for that.

Also I should mention having the metal lamp installed as a "finishing bulb" during the last 10 - 14 days of flowering can boost bud resin production and density.

Probably but not as pronounced.

Hps is some what good in veg for really heavy Indicas with tight internodes, the hps helps open them up a bit.

run the hps at 600 and u will be fine

I have done it when I intentionally wanted plants to stretch and get big before moving them into my flowering room to press them under the trellis making them half as tall and twice as wide. I am using LED now to veg the clones for the first two weeks and then switching to DE CMH for another 3 or 4 weeks, then they go to flowering rooms to veg a little bit more under DE HPS before flip.

Yeah, lots of commercial growers veg under DE hps because it sucks to change out 100+ lights, and they don't mind a little stretch in between nodes. Some people don't have a veg room. I know seems crazy not to have a veg room for a commercial grow, but it happens a lot, it's even more crazy when they buy 1000+ clones every run, cuz they don't want to make them. I get it though, I get lazy too, and that's a lot of work.
