When I used florescent lighting several years ago, I was able to get 6 adult plants under 4 of the dual bulb florescent tube fixtures. I might have been able to get 8 but didn't want to over crowd the area since light depth is a bit of an issue with floros. The lights were also a mix of the cool whites and the warm whites, depending on cycle. I used 2 warm white for every 1 cool white for flowering and 2 cool white for every 1 warm white when vegging.

The lights were kept about 2" above the canopy and yields were approximately 15 oz. from 6 adult ladies. Canopy penetration is not much more than 12" so maintaining an even canopy is beneficial. Since I had little access to do any training in the flower area, they would get a topping just before they went into flower and I would hope that the canopy would stay even. It didn't always work out.

The stuff within those first 12" was good quality bud. You won't get donkey dick density ... you'll get flowers about the size of a healthy grape.

Thanks. I did one grow under all 10 with just 2 plants. I will upgrade lighting when i get the extra paper.
Here is the bud size i got off my 1st grow under the t8s

Very good for a T8 grow. Yup ... the size (and tint!) of a grape covered in that shimmering sticky icky. Grind up that little nugget, roll it in a spliff then enjoy the ride. You did end up with a very interesting hint of purple in some of the sugar leaves. Did the temps a little cool late in flower or is that part of the plants genetics?

I love that smell of bud filling the room when I burp the jars. My wife needs to leave the house. Go figure!!

At lights off i lowered the temps to 65 to get the colors.
I did keep the light 1 inch for plants in flower. Did alot of training as you can see to keep plant flat. The clones i have in there now are just starting to reveg nicely.
Have about 30 under it all clones. I have 4 plants in veg under it to.
I have all 10 light hooked together.20191106_101743~2.jpg

Not no, but HELL NO

Blurple lights (blue + red) have been exposed as crap for growing cannabis, also, and much more important: they are very bad for your eyes

You need neutral white lights for growing and warm white lights for flowering

Not entirely true. Blues and reds have benefits. White leds have plenty of blue in them but benefit from some added red.
I added a rose cob to my build and havent suffered any ill effects

The two lights mentioned in the links above are. They look like they would be fantastic at growing some parsley or basil but would struggle to produce anything worthwhile on a cannabis plant. Probably would better off swapping the regular florescent tubes for those 4' LED's

And regarding those 4' LED's ...

... anyone know if you can you keep them as close to the canopy as the regular florescent lights or should you back them off a bit with the added "oomph"? I would like to use a few of them down close to the SCROG net to provide some added light to those lower buds - but the distance between lights and plants would only be about 4". Is that too close for LED tubes?

No need to argue over lights. I get the hint not to use them. At my local shop they have cob grow lights. 170$. Was looking for simi cheap.
I may just do the leds in the t8s for now.
I have some time to think about it because everything just started to reveg the other day. Alot of mutated growth bushy.

Might not be necessary to upgrade for veg, I've always used t5s for veg but I seen a big difference switching from my t5's for flower to qb's for flower. I know you don't wanna spend the money but a kinda cheap option (the one I went with) is to get the 4 packs of hlg 132's and get a seperate driver and wire them yourself, I used the mean well hlg 320h-2100

The upgrade will quickly pay for itself and you wont have to replace any bulbs/panels for a very long time

I dont want to make a new post so I will just keep using this post.

My clones have been mainline and topped.
What im thinking of do is SOG mixed with srcog.
By doing this hoping that it wont be bigs as my Afghan in the pic I posted.
So looking for about 10 to 15 colas. With 20 plants under the light.
I need to keep them low because of the crap t8s.

You are right. It is out there.
Guess you havent looked for it.
Here's a good read on the subject. https://gavita.com/retail/app/uploads/Light-Matters-5-GCM_US13.pdf
You should also check out the far red and the uv threads here in the led subforum

Nothing in my post suggested that i was recommending a blue and red light.

https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/all/products/hlg-550-v2-rspec Looks pretty killer to me.
Sigh

Here is the led spectrums offerd by Heliospectra . They used to have a page on the importance of green light which created WHITE lights. Reds and blues are used SPARINGLY. See Amare Technologies, or Fluence, or...
