The Krampus of my youth was ... not so gnarly. That looks like the Red Pope bodyguarded by Klingons x Orcs! I simply don’t remember such theatrical excess. Would you say the image is representative or an outlier? Is the implied evolution (of the presentation at least) real or my artifact?

well those krampus look pretty traditional but nowadays the tradition kinda drifted away into an attraction-like habit (like halloween) where they look more evilish and devil-like and is disliked by the old and conservative generations and people ... also you must differ between "krampus" which actually just appear as servants of santa claus' day on december 7 where they give naughty kids charcoal as present and "perchten" which appear in the time of january as good spirits who used to scare evil spirits and the winter away with their appereance (almost like by all hollow's eve) also how to destinguish krampus from perchten are the amounts of horns they have, while krampus usually have just 2 horns perchten always have 2 or more horns. the event "krampllauf" or "perchtnlauf" actually don't have anything to do with the tradition anymore... it's just a big where those bastards run around and hit you rods made out of horse hair and cow tails and smear your face with charcoal... still a funny event when you like pain and the feeling that the devil's chasing you

this on the other hand is a tradition though... what do you think about it?
I have to admit.

I'm crushed.

One of my childhood icons is ruined. I never imagined that Edelweiß actually refers to meth.

And that debauchery led directly to the abuse of the noble and venerable cowbell.

Shattered, I tell you.

That is a cardinal reason Austria is not more populated. When young Austrian males begin to experience horniness, their response is often maladaptive.
Yes. In America as children we adapt much quicker and add several more horns just to honk just out of spite. This is called "patriotism."
