G'day.. if a plants lower leaves are wilted.. like hanging down sorta thing.. the big fan leaves.. and some of the other ones are dying.. down the bottom.. is this normal? the plant is about 40cm tall.. lighting is hypothetically hps 150W.. the top leaves are fine. Also this plant aint budding yet.. The plant is between 11-12 weeks old and is a 'ruderalis indica'. So autoflowering indica. This plant has got lots of vegetative growth.. sprouting leaves unevenly everywhere (i read that this is when they start budding). It has been under 12/12 for about 5 days now.. because i thought even though its autoflowering suposidly i sould put it under 12/12 just incase. Please respond. Thankyou kindly!

My autoflowers are COMPLETLY DONE by week 11 - 12. I also never vary from a 18/6 lighting regime. Maybe you got one of the few pheno's that have more of a normal growth pattern than that of an AF strain. Even then, you are at the 3rd month of veg? Your gonna have some nice plants and big buds!
But to answer the question, its quite normal for older leaves towards the bottom to turn yellow and shrivlle up. :hump:

phew I'm glad to hear that, I've lost at least four leaves from the bottom that way (one just turned yellow yesterday), they go one at a time and it's so slow there's like four extra leaves on top for each that falls from the bottom.. some of my internodal leaves (only like one or two) are yellow though and that worries me..

so waht went wrong with mine?? why didnt it flower?
If you ahve only been on the 12/12 cycle for 5 days then keep watching it. This ruderalis is not an auto strain it is just a quick growing strain that has remained consistant for years. I grew the same strain last year and it took 7-10 days for mine to show pre flowers. This is a very sturdy and consistant strain and you should have no problems with it. Watch for hairs to show up at around the second node from the top and you should see them soon.

Here are a few pics of mine, i wish i still had some seeds from this strain it was perhaps the most consistant and hardy strain i've grown.

I haven't heard the best of things of ruderalis, would you be able to tell me the difference from indica and sativa? like the pros and cons.. I'm very curious as I haven't been able to find much content on it.

Indica is a short stocky plant with wide leave fingers that is a great indoor grow. Sativa is tall and lanky with thin leave fingers can be a good indoor grow as long as you have the height in your grow space. There are alot of strains out there that have been breed to take on favorable traits from both indica and sativa. The ruderalis is pure indica and the high is very much a body high. The smoke is earthy and musky. Ruderalis is the only strain i've grown that was a pure indica all my others have been a mix of sativa and indica. Hope this helps.

that's interesting, I knew that about sativa and indica my question was aimed towards the ruderalis versus those two.. the potency, yield, grow time, etc. Right now I'm trying to figure out when my plant will start flowering. I doubt it's ruderalis, but it's definitely got indica and is very skunky.

Hi thanks for all the advice guys. I was under the impression that ruderalis indica was ruderalis crossed with indica. Some people bag out ruderalis and call it ditch weed.. So I definetly hope this is not true. 'Brasmith' very nice plants there mate.. how much yield was there? Most importantly how does this stuff smoke? The high is a body high yeah? Please give detail those in the know :)

This strain was one of the easiest to grow, least fussy. Yeild per plant was nice about an ounce and a half. My grow space is limited in heighth, which allows them about 3 feet max of vertical growth. When i grew these i also grew k2 along side and under identical conditions and the ruderalis came out ahead. The k2 had issues and the ruderalis did not. After curing the 2 strains the ruderalis was the first to be sold off, by request they kept buying this one. The potency was strong but mostly a body high, did a great job at easing my arthritus, also good for couch locking ya.
It has been called a ditch weed for along time which has given it a bad rep. If I had to compare the ruderalis with another strain hash plant would be the one. They are similar in taste, effect, and scent. However ruderalis seems to produce more trichomes and is stickier than hash plant. The buds a very dense, heavy especially if you use molasses throughout the flowering stage.
