Yes, water tanks get cheaper per litre of storage as you go up in size, but you also have to have the space, factor-in delivery, site preparation & labour to do it all.
If space is of concern (as it is with many urban growers), then IBC's have a small footprint & come-in at the same $/L cost as a 50000L tank.
We already have a 22500L tank that has done us fine up until now. BUT, when we build our new home (on a property that was wiped-out on Black Saturday), we'll be putting-in another two of them. PLUS, we've got a bore that's good for another 5000L/day.
I don't want us to run-out of water under any circumstances.
