Will my very short clone survive? (pics)

So I cut the tip of my 6 weeks old choco candy by zambeza and I accidentally cut shorter than expected when trying to razor the sides to have more rooting area. The resulting stalk is about 1/3 of an inch and it immediately has new leaf growth next to it.
I put it cloning powder and then in a jiffy pellet semi-submerged in my covered terrarium that has good humidity. Will it survive?

Should be fine as long as its not over watered...will only need a few ml of water compared to a large plant needing 500ml or more.
I have a clone of "Smile" about the same size I'm trying to grow now...lol
Good luck and happy growing :P

Wow, you seem very confident. So based on your advice I took it out of the water and into the main "inland" of my terrarium, still with high humidity.

Should I cut most side leafs including the new tiny ones around the cut area or just leave it as is?
Some people cut leaves...I dont...never seen it doing anything positive with my clones, but each to their own.
Heres a pic of my "Smile" clone at 10 days...just took pic now.

Nice, I decided to trim the very small new growth next to the base and one fan leaf. On doing this the stalk has at least half an inch buried. So probably 1" from the cut to the first fan leaf.

Worst case scenario...in a week you take another cutting and try again. ;)
It may take more then a week to show roots, but within a weeks time if its bad it will show or it dies within that time...from my experience anyways.

Cool, yes my main plant is growing really well, but mostly linear growth with huge fat leafs, yet not many nodes, so that's why

I will on fimming. I had read about topping and done it once with immediate success. So I guess this topping for cloning will create more side stalks.
From what I've read it will encourage the side branching more and helps create 2 tops each time its done.
So 1 end turns into 2 and the sides grow out bigger.
But I'm far from a pro grower so best to read up more from other more experienced grower for the real info on it.

I had a clone that was similarly short, the smallest solo cup here. It was potted so that its lowest node was pretty much flush with the soil. It didn't go very well, seemed to drown and rot away. Yours looks low to the ground like that, so I'd be worried about something similar.

Are there drain holes in your solo cups ?
I put 6 or more 1/8" holes on the bottom edges of mine so water can run out and air can get to roots better.

I hope mine does not rot away, now the jiff pellet is kept humid in the terrarium but not in direct contact with the water. It is not inside a cup, so perhaps that helps with air circulation.

I believe as long as it can dry out and needs watering every few days then you should be fine.
If mediums dont dry out then the plant usually dies...in my experience.
Thats 1 reason I cut my rockwool cubes in half...takes less time to dry.

If you're trying to root a cutting, you probably shouldn't let it dry out. And so long as your cutting hasn't dried out, it's only a matter of time for it to take root.
I wouldn't worry about this one until I stuck it back into soil. And just follow the other posters' advice about cautious watering, and I think you're gonna be fine.

Yes your right, sorry didn't mean 100% dried out, but more about 80-90% dry...just before its wilted.
I find this to work for me, but it also depends on the climate you live in I think.

I'm pretty sure I had them in the bottom. I usually have them along the sides as well, tiny holes made with a sewing needle to allow airflow, but I don't think I did that step in this case. Honestly, I was a little bit reckless with those clones. I had a bunch.

I cut my solo in half and melt holes with my soldering iron...lol

Today the clone looks a bit twisted, like the stalk is horizontal almost touching the jiffy pellet and it feels stiff, maybe it rooted?
