they say it will power 4 citi 1212 in series & I'm wondering if it would power 3 luminous cxm 22 in parallel ?

The HLG-185H-C1400 goes from 71 volts to 143 volts so no it would not run 3 CXM22 at 50 volts. 3 cxm22 in series would need 150 volts so that more than likely wouldn't work either. You could run them at test current though in series using a HLG-185H-C1050 That goes up to 190 volts.

thanks for the reply I'm trying to get in the neighborhood of 350-400w for my 3x3 tent something similar in performance to a timber 4 vs in performance

XLG-200 has a 3500ma version that runs up to 56 volts that would run 3 or more CXM-22's. Times 2 would get you a for sure 400 watts.

It might be worth looking at meanwells new XLG range wiring 3 cobs per driver parallel.
I gather you must of been planning on two drivers anyway?

They are same efficiency, cheaper, smaller and can be pushed further than the HLGs you would have a lot more power for less money and can still dim to pull the wattage your after.

Thanks this is gonna be a learning experience but I am gonna learn & get the light I really want in the process

Thanks for the input I'm getting educated here , been wanting to get brave enough to take a step in this direction for awhile

Who would have these drivers ? I'm in California 2 of these drivers & 6 of the cxm 22 cobs not sure of the cri 80 or 90 yet but 3500 k this is my first project of this kind , but not gonna be the last

You can run 4 if you just do 2 parallel strings of 2 in series, though.

If you need a new driver and it can be a Constant Voltage driver, the LRS model is an absolute BANG for your buck. They need to be mounted off the fixture and away from the grow area, but are just as reliable as the expensive HLGs.

that puts a whole different spin on it that would keep the voltage at 100v. & the wattage would be 25% of the driver ? I should of made how I'm going about this more clear I'm actually hacking a Chinese led using the housing , heatsinks which are aluminum with fins are both 9x18 & 4 fans it pulls 520w. at the wall & has 5 drivers which put out 100-140v.DC as well as a 12v. Plug on each driver that runs a fan I'm assuming each driver is about 100w. & the 12v.are 5w. The light is a vipar 1200 blurple and has I'm guessing epistar panels filling 18x18 of heatsink under the cover there is a lot of room for drivers this is my first attempt at diy is there the possibility of using 2 cobs per Chinese driver in series ????

Only going to use about use about 140-150 watts of the driver out of 200 watts like that, not a very good match.
I went to that link & found 3 sources for $39.00 each & one of the places in Arizona was only $40 & reasonable shipping I'm pretty stoked ! thanks !!!

Quite a few place carry them I got a XLG a week ago for my light 25 watter just for the far red. Got mine from jameco but they don't have any XLG-200-h-ab's right now. Octopart has a list of companies that have it in stock https://octopart.com/search?q=XLG-200-h-AB
This all fits my budget & seems like the path of least resistance online components has them in stock using existing heatsinks , fans etc I'm looking at a ballpark figure of about $200 to pull this off

This is the light I'm gonna hack I'm gonna order the drivers first & the luminous cobs from cob kits this light is 19x19 outside & has 2 heatsinks 9x18 which will allow a variety of options as far as cob spacing goes my other tent has a Johnson cx-6 that has cree 3070 cobs that works good & I'm building this light based on what I've learned from the JohnsonIMG_20200117_082504.jpgIMG_20200117_082523.jpgIMG_20200117_082534.jpg

That's a good hearty fixture. It'd be a good hack. If I were you though, I'd ditch the case entirely, mount 2 cobs per heatsink, strap 2 fans to the tops pulling air down onto them, and just hang the heatsink itself. Or build a little frame to keep it one fixture and space like 8" between heatsinks. So it'd be, 18"X26". Perfect for a 3x3. Mount the drivers outside the tent. Easy peasy.

Please do update us and document some pics of the tear down. I love seeing inside these lights. And I'm happy to help you get the most out of it. You've seen my CX-3 hack from ecosunlite right?
I used the 6 PCBs with reds and blues and the 3 cxb-3070's it had, added 6 more, and gave everything their own heatsinks. Finished it with 2 far red rails with 3x 730nm diodes each.

I've been inside the light each 9x18 heatsink has cooling fins about 3\4" tall & about the same width apart my Johnson cx- uses the cxb 3070 cobs but although I've never had it open I strongly suspect it has Chinese drivers , heatsinks & fans it works well but the cobs are too close to each other , I was given the viper light & am running it for heat , not seeing any better growth than my 200w CLW ss-275 that I pulled out because my lights on temps were too low , really thankful for everyone who has responded I wish I would of built lights to begin with I'm sure I'll have multiple question's as this gets up to speed I'll post everything right here with pics
