Basically, your rapid rooters were too dry and were probably wicking moisture from the cuttings. Newbies to cloning get told a lot of misinformation. First few days you want to try for 100% humidity. Spray the shit out of those cuttings. And as others have said, top back on, vents closed. Its all about survival at this stage.

Youre just keeping them hydrated long enough for them to root. Carefully look at your plants each day. You will get a very good idea of what a wilted, dehydrated plant looks like.

Well I soaked the rapid rooters and then squeezed out excess water to where they were soaked. And with no roots yet is the rapid rooter even a factor at this point?

You have to keep them moist. Your photo clearly shows the outside was too dry ie its a much lighter colour than the inner part of the plug.

And yes of course its a factor. Rapid rooters are like sponges. They wick water. Thats part of why people have to you to put a tray underneath.

That one on the far right that has the dark circle around it, the dark circle is cloned gel that come off when putting it in rapid rooter. I dont think they are that dry but I could be wrong
