I think it's finally happening...

Ok so I think I am actually going to have a space to do a 2x4 grow tent sometime next week... I had looked through my seed stock and was going to just grow out the 4 Sweet Cheese XL seeds I have, but how boring would 1 strain be? So in an effort to keep it simple but interesting I have chosen a strain to grow with it. Royal Queen Seeds Northern Lights auto. So we will have 2 of each.
I will post some updates on the setup and everything soon. I am dying to document a grow from beginning to end, successful or not at a learning tool for others.

Is the other strain an auto too? Only reason I ask, flowering might hurt the auto if you don't have other spaces if the other strain is a photo.
Yes it is Sweet Cheese XL auto by Sweet Seeds. My plan is to pick the nicer of the 2 sweet cheese plants to spray with a fem seed spray and use that plant to pollinate all 4 plants in the tent with any luck.

Awesome. Just wanted to make sure so you didn't run into problems down the road. Good luck on your grow.

No worries that's just good looking out. I have much more exciting strains to grow but since this is very much a trial run, I chose some of the less exciting strains.

I haven't decided for sure what my grow medium is going to be but I am leaning towards great lakes super soil in the bottom of the pot... Mixed with a little coco. And roots organic green lite soil for the top of the pots. Around week 4 I will top dress with some dry amendments focused on flowering. I will use some mycorrhizae from the start and I think around week 3 I will do 1 or 2 waterings with water from my fish tanks. They should be good for veg and provide some beneficial bacteria as well...

The light I will be using is an HLG 260 watt v2 quantum board. I wish the light was a little more even of a footprint but it should do. If Mr. Canuck can pull 1/2 lb in a 2x3 with 180 watts of led... My 260 watt light should be plenty. I will have at least 1 maybe 2 fans in the tent for air circulation and I have an adjustable inline fan and carbon filter to keep temps and odors down.

I wish I could say I had a legit goal of 1/2 lb for this grow. But since I have already stated it was sort of a trial run... And my first legit indoor grow from start to finish, I feel setting a goal like that is a bit much. I don't really want to set a goal, however if I decide to buy a scaleto weigh the end result, I will set a goal of 1/4 lb.

I have heard mixing soil and coco in the same pot is a no no....Like I said though, Heard and that's it lol. I use soil myself but getting ready to run a WaterFarm bucket to see how I like it compared to soil.

Dinafem actually recommended adding 1/3 coco to soul to help with adding air to the soil. I read it on the description of one of their strains on Seedsman. I might have been the critical 2.0 auto. But don't hold me to that. A lot of bagged souls actually have a mix of peat and coco I believe. So I think it's ok.

I almost sold my 260 watt quantum board last year when I bought my 680 watt bar style light and a 4x4 tent. I'm glad I didn't. I don't think I would have room for a 4x4 tent this winter. And if my winter grow goes well... I'll probably do another 2x4 tent grow this spring and early summer. But if everything goes well, I'll use more exciting strains. Maybe something from Mephisto or Fastbuds.

Yea I wasn't sure that's why I said I have heard and that's it. I'll be following along. Been looking to run a few Cheese strains myself.

If they go well I'll have more seeds than I know what to do with. I have over 30 strains now including some from Mephisto, Dinafem, royal queen seeds, sweet seeds, exotic seeds and Seedsman... Not to mention I really stocked up on Fastbuds strains during the buy 5 get 5 free deal last year. And I want to try making seeds from a bunch of those strains also.

I have a nice collection myself. I just started a Zombie Deathfuck a few days ago. First time growing her out too. Normally when I buy seeds I already know what I want. Then I get to the site and end up with 50 things I didn't plan to get and usually only 1 that I did plan on getting lol.

I know that feeling. I just made a list earlier this week of the 6 strains I want... Last night I placed an order with Seedsman to cross Dinafem Moby Dick XXL off my list. I also ordered the Dinafem Bubba Kush autos also... And they weren't even on my list.

I want to run a few Dinafem strains. Specially the Dinachem and the Critical 2.0 from them. The reviews are fantastic and I have always seen amazing results with Dina strains. I haven't used their site yet but the one site I use does have some of their strains.

What size pots are you going to be using? I have a 2x4 tent too and I do 3 plants but 4 seems like they would be too crowded especially if your lst your lady’s. I grow in 5 gallon so I was just curious if your using them or like 3g

Oh I wasn't going against it. Like I said it was something I just heard or might have seen a thread where the problem was mixing them together like 50/50.
I understand. I just wanted to show you that at least Dinafem recommends it. Lol, that's were I got the idea to begin with. I have heard the Great Lakes Water Only soil holds moisture so I figured the coco would be a nice addition. I don't think the green lite soil needs it, but I might add some anyway.

I hadn't decided. I usually use 5 gallon fabric pots but they suck to try and lst. I think I have some nice 3.6 or 3.9 gallon plastic pots that are a little taller and skinnier than the fabric 5 gallons.

I could cut it back to 3 plants I guess. I was just worried 3 plants wouldn't fill the tent and I'd have wasted space.
