Nixon was "not decent" in the sixties. The Committee on unAmerican Activites and McCarthy were "not decent" in the fifties. They were irrelevant in the '40s and '30s because GOP were not decent in the '20s.
Before then, they were the party of Railroad and other Robber Barons. Maybe in the 1860s they were decent but ever since then they have mostly been worse than a bag of syphilitic dicks.
