Nope. Anyone who says freeze drying works is just admitting they smoke bud that has less flavor and effect than bricked green reggie.
Those same people typically collect powdered plant matter out of their keef grinder and top their buds with it. Keef so poor it won't even press, but bro it's keef bro!
Lots of these people out there these days, getting high off mental hype not their weed. These dudes would get "faded" off hemp stalk extract if you could turn it into a golden liquid and put a Jingle Boys sticker on it. And they'd talk about how good it tastes.

I've heard of big farms freezing immediately after harvest. Pretty sure all of that goes directly to processing for edibles though.

I doubt many people have the equipment to actually freeze dry. You need extremely low temps with the removal of water by sublimation.

I'm still very much an amateur when it comes to extracts but I'll check out IG because I'm very curious. As of now, I just cut, freeze, wash, vac, and vape.

Interesting, I've never heard of whole plant fresh frozen! Off to google ;D then again I'm just the grower I'll have to toss this in @cannabineer 's direction, I love learning stuff great thread, thanks @mrmaddu and @Tangerine_

Yep. I bought I closed loop last spring and I've enjoyed the extracts. I do some bubble too but my process needs work and I still need a decent press for rosin.
I read up on the various techniques when I can but extracts have evolved so fast its hard to keep up.
The frozen stuff doesn't give as much return as dried flowers but it retains more terpenes. This was one of my first attempts.
I froze the flowers from a Blueberry Shortcake I grew and I was blown away by the difference in flavor. Plus, this is the kind of stuff that keeps me busy and allows me to share (sometimes barter) the end product with friends and fam.
I cut the buds and put them in them freezer for a couple days
And this is the top view of my first extraction set up. The outside column holds dry ice and denatured alcohol for dewaxing. I wrapped a towel around the outside to absorb condensation.
This is primitive compared to the new techs they have now but it does get the job done and it was an affordable set up.
After purging in the vac chamber for 3 days.
I'm going to attempt gummy bears with my round of extracts. I've got a couple dear friends that would like to try some micro dose edibles for pain relief. One had radical cystectomy (at 45) and the stoma retracted leaving her with little option but to have the procedure repeated 5yrs later on the opposite side. I give her whatever she needs but vaping/smoking has become difficult.
And I wouldn't mind trying some myself. My RA (from Lyme) has started to affect my hands. Some days I feel like they dont even belong to me.

Good information thank you! I know next to nothing about extracts. I grow and CN extracts to distillate for vaping and use in edibles. One of my complaints about vaping distillates is the complete lack of everything but the cannabinoids. It's why I still prefer joints.
That's really good of you to take care of your friends. God knows I try to help when I can. I'm sorry to the OP too for continuing the thread jack but maybe it will serve the purpose of bumping his thread up, so he can get some attention from other's with freeze dry units. Anyway that's my justification

No you are completely cool I love my little closed look you can comfortably run 4 zips in it....does good enough for me....but I have moved on from the solvents I have a low temp plates hydraulic press setup....it does very well for me and now that I got my freeze dryer my bubble comes out with alot better color....
