Plant growth after feeding

Hey guys. So my plant is almost on day 40, and it’s a lot smaller because of the lack of proper equipment, and it being my first grow as well. I was finally able to get some plant food yesterday, fed around 1pm. I left the house for a day and just got back, and this is the results. Seems as though it’s responding really well. It went from having tiny nubs of new branches, to visibly seeing the leaves starting, in just over a day. So excited!859B3797-A372-453E-858E-46C20F95A120.jpegC4EA439A-2810-4B00-8514-54CB90970331.jpegFC262722-E8A3-4EA3-B98B-17290D4DA024.jpegE2527060-87B4-4D0B-9F8B-8C1D6982A534.jpegF3A211D0-A6E0-4316-A5C9-D07242655D43.jpeg4DD87A42-D72C-4C6E-95C7-8CEC0D46D05B.jpeg

Well, I topped it a week ago, that may explain why the top looks kind of wonky. As for the soil, none of the stores around town had Fox Farm or anything, so I went with the highest quality MiraclGro I could find. Before anyone chastises me, yes I know it’s not a good soil for it, but it’s the only thing I could both find and afford at the time.

I'm using Miracle Gro Performance Organics (in the black bag) because it was only $8 for 25qt and I'm getting great results. The potting mix (in the yellow bag) is known for producing gnats and that's exactly what happened to me. I will be using the performance organics line until I run into a major problem.

Thanks for the reply. Any thoughts on how the plant is looking? Should the top leaves look weird the way they do after topping? First time I’ve ever done it was just over a week ago, and they’ve been recovering nicely it seems.

In my humble opinion, your new growth looks bad judging by the fact that mine never looked like that after topping. The new leaves are droopy and yellowing or something. When I top it's just that nub and the new tops growing in on either side but my new leaves are always nice and pointy and lively. It could be showing overwatering or not liking the new nutes. I wouldn't take action on it quite yet though. It could bounce back in the next few days.

Thank you. What action do you suggest taking if it continues to look like that?

Thats a fim not a top. Just a cut leaf that grew now looks weird
Sorry for the complete misunderstanding, I was under the assumption I had topped it down to the stem but now I’m looking at photos and realizing I did indeed FIM it. So the new leave grew in weird, is that a bad thing, or is it eventually going to grow out and look normal?

I used the yellow and green bag for my grow, and no gnats, but taking a look at the dirt towards the end of the grow and how much wood is in the soil now that everything's settled in, I'm glad I got a bag of Happy Frog for my subsequent grows. Also perlite. I skipped that addition, and I think it made my job harder.

Yeah I really don't like the wood because it tends to mold up. The performance organics has no wood in it at all... nice and loamy with perlite. Not hot soil whatsoever and great for seedlings. I know cheapness is looked down on but I can't justify spending more when I'm truly happy with the cheap stuff. If I was angry and not getting results and just had to deal because I didn't have the money that would be one thing. I feel like I'm getting a steal and that feels pretty damn good!
