In my case i use strips, for a 3x3 tent, you need at least 270 watts of QB's... 300-360 watts sounds more reasonable though... Personally i wouldn't even hit 400W without CO2

I use my 120 watt board exclusively for veg. I’m putting some 22 watt influx outriggers on it too So I don’t have to run the board at full blast. Also, I made that post on 12/5. I’ve been really burning the oil ever since then — doing lots of dabs too, lol. My flower light is 480 watts — 2 120 watt boards, 2 60 watt outrigger bars, and 4 30 watt cobs, over a roughly 8 square feet canopy. As soon as it warms up some more I’m gonna hook up some CO2 but I’ve read that it doesn’t really do much if my closet is around 75 with the lights on. Am I wrong? I may be a fast learner, and I may fully commit myself to every hobby I take up, but I flipped my first ever pot plant in May of this year so I know I’m lacking in the experience department.

Ordered a the mars ts1000w on a whim when i was going for a 2x2 but looking to swap that for the tsl2000 and then add either 2 cobs or a hgl

Can anyone clarify what exactly it is other than the meanwell driver that makes the hgl boards so much better?

what cobs are you using mate and in what sized space?

I meant what makes, or should i say why is it that the hgl quantum boards are seen to be so much better than say spider farmers who use the same samsung leds, and the same driver? Not sure if im missing something lol.

I have 3 drivers in my light and it puts off a fair amount of heat, so I just sit a desk fan up in it blowing over the drivers and board heatsinks. It pushes some warm air down over the canopy and with the LED on it stays between about 70 and 80 with the light on and can get down to the low 60s/high 50s with the lights off. It was getting above 90 in there with the HPS. Every single plant in my closet turned purple this time and is surprisingly frosty. I think that signal stuff I’m using is helping too. It claims to help with resin production and color and it’s made a difference with phenos I’ve run without it in the past. I’ve got a pheno of a strain (kandy kush) that’s supposed to test around 15%, but this fucker is way too frosty to be below 20%. I’m wondering if the cooler temps are having an effect. These buds are rock hard too. I’m sending this pheno and one other into the lab to get tested. The rosin too. This one is from seed. I’m excited for the clones. I love how much better my pics come out with the LED light as opposed to the HPS.

Then you might go with the Citizen. I started spending money on Cree but later I realized you can push the Citizen up to +100W each and they keep a good working regime. Now I'd setup CLU058 at 100W, that's a good power ratio at good specs.

I believe that mixing heat and spectrum of old HPS with new white COBs is what provides the best results in winter in cold places.

for veg only. I will not be flowering under the board. I have a closet set up for flowering and I want to have at least 500 watts of 3000k cobs

Why not use strips instead. Greengenes says strips have better coverage

Of course. I can control overheat. I can't grow with HPS in July and August without reducing power. With COBs I can keep growing, but I prefer to produce weed in cold months and stop in summer
