Brown Leaves on White Widow

Hi everybody!

I've got these five White Widows on an 18 hour schedule under a 1000W MH They live in three gallon pots filed with FF Ocean Forrest and no nutes.

For some reason three are doing great but two decided to self-destruct. I don't know why. Why do you think this would happen?

Wierd to see a Ca deficiency in soil. How long have they been in those pots?

Yeah, calcium deficiency. Your ph is prob low. This much visible evidence says you have been deficient for wks. Its why I say low ph. Also may need to add more cal.

If it's the same soil in all 5 pots, but the symptoms are only showing on 2 plants. I would guess watering(over) or environment(humidity) issues. Those issues might be playing a hand in the plant obtaining nutrients from the soil.

Yes, they have been self-destructing for about two/three weeks.

And yes, same soil from the same bag in all the pots. Three are fine. That's why I'm here. :) They are in a basement with maybe 30% humidity right now, it's wintry outside. If I turn my dehumidfer on to its lowest setting, 35%, it doesn't run. The light is a good 2 feet above the plants. I have two oscillating fans blowing.

I don't think it can be over watering (anything is possible) because I thought I let them dry out pretty good before giving more. Maybe my moisture meter is broken. I'm not sure how any of the instruments are calibrated so anything is possible. The soil doesn't feel wet.

I'll go fluff the soil right now so it'll bone-dry out.

Don't fluff the soil, leave it be. Test watering by weight of container. Use your muscle memory. If all the pots feel the same weight. Then it's probably not a over water issue.

Have their positions been rotated? Humidity seems low. I live in a rain forest and run a humidifier when lights are on.

Thanks everyone. I fluffed the soil before I read the warnings The root zone is getting pretty dry.

Do you really think those little plants in those big pots need nutrients? FFOF soil is pre amended and any pre amended soil should should grow a plant bigger then that.
The problem is overwatering in my opinion those moisture meters seem to always be inaccurate to me.

Yup, the op doesnt have shit for microbes and even if there are nutes in the pot they aint getting in the plant. Water in some nutes and that will hit the roots. Water in water you aint got shit getting to the roots.

Whats the first thing you do when you bring a baby home, you feed it. Same thing with baby plants, you feed it.

When the plant gets bigger and has some roots and maybe the microbes get bigger in population or maybe they add microbes to it to break that organic material down so that its actually available to the plant. Yeah feed it some nutes.

ffof soil is like the suckiest wood chip shit you can buy. You think a plant is going to suck up a wood chip and go, that was yummy.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the replies.

I fluffed the soil in all of them back there on the 17th. Luckily I did because within a day or two from fluffing some of the leaves on the three good trees started to turn.

The two that were half dead are now cooking again. It was over watering. Letting them dry out has been the only variable I tweaked. I haven't watered them since. My "wet" and there are much different.

Yesterday was the 5 week birthday under HPS. Here's a shot under the MH. 3 weeks to go....

I've been watering them with just enough to last about two days. 3 or 4 cups each every other day.

Week 8 today (Day 56). Here are some pics. I think two might be ready soon, like a couple of days. Disappointing yield if this is the case.
Thoughts?
A couple of the others may need another week.
1000W MH.

Why the mh and not the hps. Are you trying to use it as a finishing bulb or something

Here they are with their sisters under a 1000W HPS.

The others have a two week birthday today. I need more room and lights. Ha! Lights....
