I think you're correct. A brand new breeding approach is just over the horizon. I suppose I liken it to the emerge of tissue cultures in the cannabis world. Just a few years ago it was unheard of outside of academia and now its become a widely acceptable method of preserving and regenerating older cultivars.
I guess for now, collecting pollen to hunt lines ourselves seems to be easiest route...well, not necessarily
easy.
