When to start flushing

Thanks all for your input and advice, I think now I will be only giving the soil a flush in the last 5 days when ripening. Has anyone used ghe ripen? As it is a pk nutrient to use in the last 10-15 days, so you is Still feeding your plant .
Are you growing autos?

Yes auto’s buddy
I am far from an expert, and you can do whatever you want but autos don't need the nutes like the photos... and most people will tell you not to get too crazy with them. A lot of the more "professional" guys growing autos will tell you to just put them in a super soil and leave them be. Guys growing in hydro I don't think get too fancy either. Mephisto for example recommends the super soil route... or using what they will do is use a couple biotabs....

I disagree with flushing. If you are having to flush before harvest, you need to switch to a routine that fertilizes every time you water, using at least twice as much water as required to flow from the pots. That way Salts will never build up. That way, you never slow the ripening of your Trich's.

Peat in soil drags PH down, so set fertilizer water at PH of 6.4 exactly. If I adjust to 6.4, I can use 1/4 tsp MG per Gallon of water. However, if I set 6.0 PH, I can use only 1/8 tsp MG. Any more then the leaves curl with lower PH because of the acidic Peat. I like Miracle Grow Tomato Food, and add extra Epsom Salts during veg for Magnesium it cannot fully provide. Has got to be the pink stuff for Tomatoes, high N, low P, high K where N & K are balanced. I got tired of consuming much PH UP to fix adding 0-0-5 to general purpose plant foods to balance N & K.

What’s your opinion on my girl? Does she look neatly ready? She keeps throwing out new hairs ! Mostly milky with a few clear and only a few Amber on the sugar leafs only not on the bud.

Go by buds not leaves for trichs. If it was 5% clear and 5% amber and than almost all milky on buds I'd definitely be cutting. I like as much cloudy and little amber as i can get.

Auto guy here .... look throw that flushing shit out the window unless you been feeding lots of synthetic nutes. Flushing only leaches the salt buildup in medium ... does nothing to or for plant.

Autos will finish according to YOUR grow style , environment and lastly skill. All that breeder estimate of harvest is under “ their “ optimal grow conditions. You will find autos perform better past 9 weeks plus. Regardless of estimates . Autos need only enough feed to keep it happy for about 90 days average of life. Many indicators other than triches ( you should scope calyx areas ) not leaf will show you are at end..... heavy “ uniform “ fading , she stops drinking , sugar leaf die off , etc.

The new pistil growth at tip of tops is normal with intense lighting , look at flower overall for ripeness.
Forget the “ amber percentage “ bullshit. Some throw amber after harvest as it begins decay. Look for a high percentage of CLOUDINESS ( opaqueness) over entire bud. If you are at 80% or better then you can move to cut. Some strains also can have new pistil growth ( white ) even when fully ripen too. You can ween down feed at end instead of dramatic flushing , because i am betting that medium is still charged enough to just “ water “ as needed at end.

Yep definitely looking closer. I bet it could still use another week to 10 days of swelling and ripening. But it’s a fair point now to take a look at trichomes. I would bet it’s still a high percentage of clear though just from the looks of the plant.

The more plants you grow the better you will get at reading the signs they give you. When plants are properly done they really have a finished look to them that is hard to explain. I think they get almost a shimmer to them as the trichomes mature to that mostly cloudy point.

Ty buddy! I was gonna give it about 10-12 days before chop . What do you think about giving her a major defol in the last 5 days to ripen up the lower nugs plz ? Will is cause any issues?

Personally I would only remove dead growth. It looks like from your pictures that your plant should be getting plenty of light to grow and mature well.

If the lower growth really isn’t maturing well you could do a staggered harvest. Cut all the tops when they are ready and leave the lower growth to mature. But really from the look and size of your plant I wouldn’t prey about it. I would just get it to the finish and call it good ;).

Thanks very much buddy. I will be using the same tent to dry in so was going to trim the whole plant in the pot then hang the whole plant intact. I think it grew rather well considering it’s only under a 100w spider farmer quantum board!

C'mon man. What do you think I'm talking about? I'm talking about plant nutrients, the 12-13 elements that are in the nutrients we all feed our plants. Don't be silly. "you can't remove it once it's in there". Are you serious? Like are you thinking that other people think they're going to shrink down in size, go inside the plant like the magic school bus and "remove things they put there"? Haha, I'm kidding.

But.. the plant is uptaking elements, allocating them, moving around the mobile ones where needed, using them, storing them, etc., right? I think you're over simplifying it and kinda misrepresenting the *concept. Tissue test are done to see what the level of "x" elemental nutrient level is in the plant as compared to what it's being fed, and what's in the medium. Maybe you've seen some of the literature/videos from various university "extensions". For example, when they're trying to ascertain what the minimum level elemental ppm of, say phosphorus, is to have a certain desired effect.

...

I'm not saying one way is wrong or right. I don't know really. But I guess it's understandable why there's such "debate" about the topic...
So, there's no scientific data in support of one or the other (yet)? To each their own then I guess, lol. :D Hopefully there will be in the near future.

Shit, I'm flushing my toilet daily! Is that too often? I haven't even checked runoff or anything.

Peace, guys.
Lovely plant, and if you are curious about flushing here's a good article:

I grow in Coco/perlite every 2 weeks I flush with a low PPM solution to set up an osmotic gradient to leach my grow medium of excess salt build up. I feed to the end.
