Sativas are actually easier to grow

I've had a cannabiogen destroyer growing for about a year now. The first run was a wash, I started with 4 seeds and got 4 females which made me a bit sad as I wanted to make some backup beans. They took over the whole 4x4 space floor to ceiling and blocked out the light causing even more stretch. I ended up pulling them out and into the compost bin after 4 months, ugh. I do have more beans, and hope to find a male I can use to back her up.

That said, I took a clone of the best smelling, largest bud pheno and am on my 4th run of that clone now. It no longer stretches like crazy, and in fact it is quite tame. Barely fills out the screen, easy to root clones, and doesn't like a lot of nutes. I use my no-till bins I've been running for the past decade and it does it's thing. The buds are fairly tight for a pure sativa, and it's a nice social up high.

I guess the point of this comment is to say, a sativa takes more time. It really needs to mature before it acts right indoors. This year I plan to put a Super Malawi Haze outdoors knowing it can never finish. But I will take clones at the end of summer to finish indoors over winter after having an extended veg time outdoors. This is what works for me.

One of my favorites! How did you grow it? I've done dwc, promix blend, and outside........didn't have the time needed outside but damn the smell and taste was awesome!

I'm also going to be popping some Dr. Grinspoon at the same time. I know it is very small yielding, but it isn't something i'm likely going to get to try unless I grow it myself so....

I'm starting a few of them in a tent, and then 2 will be going to people that grow outside (I'm giving them a jump start as its way too cold to plant yet here, not enough light yet either), at least one will be staying with me to play with. Was thinking of getting an extended height tent. Think this strain would do ok in a scrog?
I found 3 phenos with Golden Tiger. A short very manageable Malawi pheno, a nice Thai pheno with single cola (6 footer in my garden now. And one in the middle. The Thai would suck in a scrog but one of the malawi phenos might do ok. You're gonna be doing some weaving.

The GTs are the 3 on the left. Had to bend the Thai lady over...and the other 2 are sorta ratty looking like plants tend to do after being in flower for 13 weeks (and nowhere near done yet)

I've never found clones to stretch like seeds

Growing 2 zamaldelica x old timer haze cross..easy to grow..sometimes...but the stretch..wow..i mainlined and tied down some tops..keeps stretching..have to supercrop soon..3 weeks into flowering with megacrop. I had to switch to 10/14 to reduce stretch..praying for stretch to slow.. i might go to 9.5/14.5. I am enjoying the challenge.. Bangi Haze seeds will start in march to find the females.. sativas are amazing.

Did you make that Zamaldelica x Oldtimers Haze cross yourself? I haven't seen that one before. I've made numerous crosses with OTH. I have an OTH + Tikal cross I'm anxious to try as well as an OTH + F3 Durban/Pakistani Chitral Kush. The latter will likely get started before the Tikal cross. I have a bunch of ACE genetics. I've been really happy with everything I've grown from them. They have a bunch of stuff I want to get but I can't justify acquiring more seeds. Another place I've gone overboard with is The Real Seed Company. I like my landraces.

Ive been growing off and on since the early 2000s. Some strains that I have grown: sweet tooth, bog bubble, bubba kush, afghani, haze19xskunk, sour d, tangie, sour joker, cindy 99, chernobyl, stardawg to name a few. Now its common for people to say sativas are more difficult to grow but that has not been my experience. Sativas seem more energetic in growth and grow like a vine. in ScrOG even a lanky sativa will barely stretch through the screen if it has a 2+ square foot canopy and will end up looking bonsai-like. It's easy to control any sativa's height with scrog. Sure sativas can take an extra month of flowering but they will also yield better, be less sensitive to nutes, and be less prone to bud rot. So despite the common myth that sativas are more difficult to grow i think its indicas that are more difficult to grow.
nether sativa or indica is hard to grow lol

Or, they could both be hard to grow. It all depends on the skills of the person and the things you have to work with. I'll say they are not hard, but they are not real easy either......yet

I noticed your plant in the ace forums..looked good.

I bought the seeds from a seed company in canada. Moving forward..i really only look at ace seeds now. I love the strains and the breeder is respected. I will grow bangi haze next..on deck is panama..then Malawi. I will be looking for 420 deals on ace A5 killer haze and purple satellite.
I will look at real seed company but i would like to make some bangi haze crosses.

Hoping for mid april harvest.
Current strain zam x OTH.. i have 2 pheno.. seems 1 grows flowers on both sides of nodes..other seems to alternate..

Never heard of a sativa pulled at 42 days with cloudy trichs.. i grew c99 and i thought it was fast at 55 days. Even my c99 x texada timewarp was 55 days. I don't buy dispensary stuff.. i just grow my own as i waited 35 years to legally grow in CDN. Hard to find the soaring sativa high in a quick flowering.. purple satellite for outdoors from Ace is on my bucket list..

I do agree 20 weeks is long..plus curing..
