Brought a portable ac and it hasn’t lowered my temps

So I brought a portable ac unit cause I just brought a hps light but it’s way to hot in there so I brought the ac have ducted it into my grow room and my temps have no changed one bit my rh levels have gone up which is good and my tent feels a hell of a lot cooler but it hasn’t changed my temps at all and I’m not sure why especially when my tent feels very cool I am just wondering has anyone else tried this?

Broken thermometer possibly? If the room feels cooler it most likely is not working properly.

Make sure your thermometer isn't right under the light.

If your RH is up, it's probably because your ambient is lower.

Ya, well it just is consistent with a reduction in air temp (increase in RH), as well as how you thought it felt cooler, and also consistent of what these guys said too. Air condenses as it cools, as the air warms up it can hold more water. Like @Bose said, and like @xtsho said, make sure your thermometer isn't directly under the light (HPS has lots of IR), and/or try a different thermometer.

Ok so problem solved I got my temps down from 29 degrees to 25 and I’m more than happy with that but now another problem have arised my rh is now at 50% and I’m in week 8 of flower so what should I do?

IMO, 50% RH is ok in flower as long as you have good airflow.

I’ve got plenty good air flow with the aircon and 2 fans plus 2 fans taking out the old air so you think it fluctuating from 50 to 54 is all good?

I struggled keeping rh under 60 in mid to late flower but I've been ok for 3 grows at mid to high 50's rh.
