right on. I don't have the budget to switch out both at once though.
But i think you actually do, at least as far as chips. Also if your space is vented and a bit cold at winter it might be a point in getting you a setup that can run both leds and hps at the same time: there might be some months during winter where you need that thouie for heating. The way to do it would be having it hanging relatively high in the middle, with leds on the sides.
Have a look at the Fotop thread of Moflow and check the updates from
@WeedSexWeightsShakes.
You should be able to get them both thru search.
Get a feel for how the fotops look and how they lay down their footprint.
You can get 6 shipped for around 550-600us$, if you go board only and stick to lm561c.
The 6 will do your entire space, but it might be hard to get the rest of the setup on only 400. But you wont need everything just yet.
Check if you can find an inexpensive aluminium shop near by, if you could score some alu sheet cut to custom length. Use 1/8th inch, 14x38" approx. This way you can take your boards over 200w.
Get a couple of meanwell hlg240-48A, or even 48AB if you can score them. Dont buy them from china. Buy it from somewhere you could return the more or less easily for warranty, they have 7 years and its a pain to shipp them.to china. Use digikey or arrow electronics. Or even mouser.
So 6 boards (ask them for some wago connectors aswell, they got them cheap in china)
About 550-600
2 drivers about 120 with the cableing.
Alusheet: i get this size for around 10€ here, guestimate 30$ or so.
And you will have a fully working light that covers a 4x4 or 2 4x2. And you will have the boards to be able to expand to more with just some minimum investment.
The spiderfarm light dont seem half bad but they have the same problem as all the hlg550 clones: concentrated light source. It gives shitty light levels in sides and corners of a 4x4 and your space is slightly over that.
For a full on led summer setup: 2x3 boards on about 1200w in total.
