I do remember because in 1972 I was 16 & he was the Dem's nominee against Richard Nixon in they're attempt to stop the war in Vietnam & address the social/economic inequality in this Nation.
I wasn't able to vote then but I loved what he said, like get us out of that fucked up war & help the underprivileged in this country.
But, that didn't turn out so well seeing as he lost by a landslide & gave us Nixon (and 2 more years of war) for the next 4 years until Nixon resigned facing impeachment,
I guess my point is that idealism is a wonderful thing, it is needed & actually mandatory, but pragmatic understanding of what can be attained in the circumstances surrounding you is paramount.
If Sanders is selected as the Dem nominee, we ALL lose, because he will NEVER be accepted by a plurality of the American voter.
Four more years of Trump will stack the Supreme Court (goodbye Roe vs Wade) and fucking FOREVER change the direction of this country
So, what too do?
Nominate someone who has not a chance in Hell of becoming POTUS, or bite the bullet & select someone that does?

SCOTUS is already fucked, not saying it's good to get more judges in the pipeline appointed, but I view the fear of Bernie with skepticism. Dems have the popular vote, and moderates aren't voting for trump again. Dems definitely aren't voting for trump again. He'll have his base but he's showed his ass and if we don't skip key states (Bernie won Wisconsin I think) I think it's a win, he energizes people and imo that's what it takes to motivate ppl to vote.

traditional dems will rally behind a Sanders candidacy, but if the DNC screws Bernie out of the popular vote, do you think berniebros will vote for a Bloomberg or Pete or Biden? I think they're pissed about last time and may just say FU to the DNC and vote trump in again if that happens, they've been threatening it I think.

I am more afraid of the people who are not having to vote for Trump in primaries (because he had the RNC shut them down) are voting for Bernie in the Democratic primary to boost his numbers, knowing that they will never vote for him in November.

Trump and Putin are fucking everything up with McConnell and the Republicans consent, this is not on the DNC.

That was my first vote too. I was stationed overseas, and the lifers I worked with said that I should have voted for Nixon, because he was best for the military!

When Nixon won was when I started saying that people are idiots, and I've said it every election since then.
