Cold Room Growers?

I've got a "cold room" in my basement. Unfinished, concrete, and cold. Can I grow in there? I'm worried about condensation and mold. I'm going to do it, just maybe looking for a little push lol!

tbh i use space heaters and humidifiers atm.. I hope to some day upgrade to maybe some base board heating. I have been slowly been raming up walls and rooms... I even went as far as smashing out some of those old school glass blocks to put in a vent but I need to frame it up proper soon.

I ended up prying one glass block out of mine and putting in an 8 inch grate/vent going out of mine. Works fine for me with a space heater and airflow.

Air flow, air flow, air flow, keep the hunidity down, temps can run a little higher, using a sodium hps for the grow helps fight higer rH and keep some green cure on hand to handle powdery problems you will run into if your space doesnt exchange air properly... can fan and filter for exhausted air (rated above your room, passive intake (smaller then exhaust) and you should be good) oh and lots of fans

Ventilation shouldn't be a problem. I can rig something up. Was worried about rh with a cold room and hot light. As well as condensation. But if good airflow will combat that, shouldn't be a problem! Thanks!!

If your in a cold basement using space heaters low humidity is usually the problem in my experience. Of course I also am using leds and you want higher humidity with them also anyway.

Can it be self contained? It's about 4×12 so pretty large but all 4 walls are cement and just the doorway. As long as I have the air inside moving alot will this be okay??

Mine is a 5.5x 10.5 x 7ft concrete room in my basement. Summers are great with good air exchange, winters I use the space heater.

You are going to want to bring in fresh air, and exhaust the old. Otherwise you will have to supplement co2 and increase temp control.

Basements make great grows, the cool walls and floor help with the heat. I pretty much only ever grow in basements. Unfinished ones.

I would use kilz white to paint the walls. If the floor is on good condition I would use an epoxy floor coating. If you have floor drains that is a huge bonus. Check out my journal if you want to see some hot basement action lol.

Indeed! Basements make great grows. I've grown in a spare bedroom and a garage. I've been in the basement now for about 5yrs and love it.
So much easier to control and installing additional components was a breeze.

Beats growing in an outside garage (shed) like i do.
Man I bet......been in the dungeon for years now. But I always look at this old chicken coop I have.........then always say man that would be harder to tune. Temp swings from day to day let alone -20f for weeks in winter and 100f here and there in summer
