Huge fan leaves!

These 4 fan leaves are so huge that Im not sure all the new growth underneath is getting light. Its on its 3rd node, week 6 day 1 of veg, 18/6 unknown strain. Should I remove them? Leave them? (pun intended) Nodes are so tight right now and I feel it needs some stretch but not sure it will. 4" height at 6th week?? I will admit though she went through some serious conditions for 1st 4 weeks making it very difficult for her to grow. What do u all think?20200226_111233.jpg

Leaves are what convert light into energy (photosynthesis). Cutting large, healthy leaves off of a plant, especially a very young one will only inhibit and significantly slow growth.

Your plant is an indica or indica-dominant strain. They are well known to grow with very tight internodes (ie. grows short and bushy).

Let it grow.

Ok thnx, im pretty sure I wouldn't have but needed certainty to make sure I didn't lol. What is your opinion on the stretch?? I know that is every growers enemy but in start of 6th week where are my colas?? No indication of any or is it where the new growth is?20200225_094703.jpg

Perfectly normal. A certain amount of light passes through the fans to the lower leaves. This is very dependant on the type and power of the light. What you really need to watch for is condensation between the leaves. This can happen when leaves sit right on top of each other. You get condensation between the leaves, which can lead to mold and mildew issues.

Even if my humidity is consistent with 30-35%? I did spritz my plants the day of the pic with ph water

I saw that happen at that humidity level (central CA) until I added a fan in the grow space.
I would not have thought that. In fact I was running a humidifier with humidistat and set it to 50% and had done more damage than good. I since took it out and that is the ONLY reason she lived to brandishing all these new leaves.20200212_144548.jpg

And I wouldn't spray the leaves at lights out. That's when you can run into lots of issues with mold and mildew. Spraying them during the day can cause your leaves to burn, from he light being amplified by the water droplets.

I wouldn't worry about the fan leaves. But why is that plant so small for six weeks?
I didn't have her in the right conditions first 4 wks. I was waiting on $450 worth of grow equipment and started her in closet with all the wrong or no equipment. I think her initial growth was stunted due to poor lighting, poor air circulation, poor humidity and poor soil but all that changed when my equipment came in so she started growing again.

So you shouldn’t spray your leaves at all? Just trying to gather as much info as I can.

BTW, when you're vegging, you want your humidity above 50%. It's okay if you can't quite reach that. What'll happen is your plants will perspire, and they will just need more watering.

During flower, you want you RH below 50%. I like it around 30%.
