light and carbon scrubber on same line?

I know it's not the best or most efficient way to go about it, but I'm just curious if I would be wasting my money if I ran my lines as such:

Carbon scrubber on the intake of the light, still enclosed in a grow tent. Then the air passes over the light through the exhaust of the refeflctor then a little bit of ducting to the fan that pushes the clean(er), hot air out of the grow tent.

I know it's ideal to run a separate line/fan for the light and a separate line/fan for the scrubber. But I don't want two loud fans that are just drawing more power and a bunch of clutter with ducting.

Current lighting system is a 600W MH conversion bulb for veg and 600W HPS for flowering. Plan on throwing this in a DR120 with a 2' carbon scrubber and a 440CFM 6" Fan.

Long as you got a fan to match the filter, that's more than enough cfm to cool a 600.... you're sitting pretty my fiend.

Only real concern I have is negative pressure in the ducts between the filter and the fan. Probably not going to to reduce odor as well as it could due to odorized air getting in the ducts after the filter.

I may not even need to cool the light actively though. Might just be able to hook the fan and CS up and exhaust the heat out that way.

could you use a PC fan the same size as your tube to cool it independently...? just picked up a DR120, and i got a six hundred watt cool tube on the way. thats the route i was thinking anyway. i'll post on monday when all my shit gets here and let you know if it works well...

I used to use a 200 cfm inline ran on my light, i got better results with the picture shown. Better results as in my temp is 75 instead of 85.

I use a 465 cfm fan w/ 6'' ducting and a cooltube in a 3.23'x3.25' tent. I have my fan hooked up directly to the filter, and exhausting through the cooltube and then out of the tent. Check out the link in my signature, I have a picture of the setup in there.

What about a 1200w (2x 600w) growzilla hood, in a dr150 tent...im setting this up really soon and have the same debate..1 line from scrubber through light and out tent...or 2 different lines with 2 different fans....hmmmmmm?

I mean you should be able to use 1 fan with 2 lights ive seen it done. and really you can put the carbon filter at one end of the lights and the inline fan in the end.but i would suggest having a hood with the sealed glass on it so no air can get sucked through the lights without it getting filtered.then you would have no air not filtered getting out while maintaining the temps of the tent by sucking out the hot air of the lights and dumping it outside of the tent rather than inside shuld keep ya golden....

Ya...forgot to say that..the reflector is sealed.

but if i am running a co2 tank wouldn't that just suck the co2 right out of the room? i cant necessarily turn the fan off the lights should i?

i mean...if the lights had their own exhaust line (outside air-through flex duct- through sealed hood- out flex duct- out of tent)

then had fan 2 from: room- through scrubber- through fan- through flex duct-out of tent, then i could at least turn off fan while co2 tank is on, and not waste co2, and not have to turn off light fan...wouldn't that be more productive?

or would it be okay to turn off fan (if running both light exhaust and room exhaust with one fan as mentioned previously) for 15 minute intervals during co2 ?

well yeah man it is okay to turn the fans off at those times as you can have higher temps during co2 period. or what oyu could do is make the line after it leaves the tent longer and it can just exhaust back into the tent during co2 times.
and i dont remember but i though co2 was to be put in like right after the lights go out or some shit.i dont remember for sure not to worried about it im not looking into it right now but im not sure.either way man turn the fan off or jsut loop it inside the tent youll be a okay.

Got most everything setup. Had to settle for a dingy duct booster until my 6" Can Fan gets here, so things are not optimal yet. Duct booster doesn't move nearly enough air to cool the light with the filter on it. But the aroma that has been building in the room is gone and smells like clean laundry now .

One of the setup and a lil plant porn (28 Days from germ) . Realizing now I should have filled the containers to the top with soil...

if you have a CO2 setup then i am pretty sure that air cooling your light on the same line as your exhaust would be less practical then having another fan on an isolated line for the light that can run continuously without having an effect on the CO2 level...
