Sealed room points help

Hey,

could you guys tell me what to focus on for my new tent in a sealed room? Should I pay more for a softer noise fan? Anything special about sealed rooms?

Has anyone tried insulated duct tape?

let’s discuss grow tents in sealed rooms here guys.

Are you sure you need a tent, in an alrdy sealed room? Regarding the fan noise, really depends. I have a normal, semi loud can fan in a nonsealed room and you can just hear it outside the door. If the room is sealed, and your not venting, you will need to think about a couple different things.

1. CO2, in a sealed room CO2 is being used up by the plants and not refreshed unless you have a generator or tanks.
2. Dehumidifier, without venting you need one.
3. AC, you need to cool the room somehow and without venting the only way to do it is with an AC.

A sealed room will actually greatly improve noise suppression, especially fan noise. Get neoprene door seals and door sweeps at you local hardware shop.

Not sure why you'd need insulated duct tape, if there is such a thing. But if you're looking for some real robust, thick tape, try Gorilla Tape.

Look up "lung rooms" for some air intake ideas. If you want to have an air filter, for the room's intake, stretch a nylon stocking/panty hose over the end of a flexible duct. If your room has a closet that backs another room, or hallway, you can use that as a lung room. You'll have to seal the closet door as well.

My room is a sealed room. I'm not injecting co2 just yet, but I'll probably add one at some point. Hopefully this will give you some ideas.

This is my grow room closet set up as a lung room. As a side note, my 1k hps/hood is a temporary setup. I'll be switching to QBs shortly.

Air comes in from the hallway, on the other side of the closet

The nylon stocking stretched over the duct as an air filter. I vacuum it every couple weeks to remove the dust.

Inside the closet

The closet door sweep (bottom of door)

The closet door has a seal going around most of the frame. If I mount it all the way around, it gets too tight to close the door. For the front edge seal (and light proofing), I take lengths of duct tape, fold it, leaving a little bit of a sticky edge exposed, and stick one to the door frame, and one to the door. It's really thin, but seals well.

The 4" inline fan draws the air into the room, through the sealed closet. It is really important to seal the lung room. If it's not sealed, it will suck in the grow room's air, and much less external air, and the room will get hot. I'll explain the corner wedge below...

The air brought into the room is from the house, which is around 68. It gets exhausted into my reservoir, keeping the water below 69 degrees.

This is my 4" room exhaust fan/filter. This is routed to a register in the other room, via insulted duct in the attic.

This is where the exhaust air is sent (empty spare bedroom)

Is smell a problem in the spare room?
When i was exhausting into the room, smell was noticable, even with a more than adequate carbon filter. At one point i almost added a scrubber in the tent, but opted to install another dryer vent and exhaust out that.
Smell isnt noticeable in the exhaust but was eventually building in the room

I hear ya. The scrubbers don't seem to capture absolutely everything. Once I get my LEDs, the 6" fan will have a scrubber just for scrubbing the air in the room, and the 4" will have it's scrubber. I'm hoping this helps. It's all legal here in OR, so I'm not trying to be stealthy, just trying to keep my house smelling a little more normal.

Pretty clever ideas for soundproofing but a sealed room doesn't allow air exchange. At all. Some who run sealed rooms will exhaust after lights out to let out co2 and bring in oxygen. I dont. A sealed room must supplement with co2 otherwise it would get none during lights on since none would come in with fresh oxygen. A room that changes over it's air with fresh oxygen brings in the co2 at a natural level of 300-400 ppm. Sealed rooms need dehumidifiers and cooling such as a/c since NO air or heat is ever exhausted and exhanged. The lung room idea works in theory as omg as the lung room is also sealed from the outside. Otherwise you may as well just run a normally vented room.

A lot of experienced growers have concluded that incremental fresh air exchange, or continual low-air venting is beneficial, and increases the yield beyond a fully sealed room.

Your pics show that it works. Your haze twins look outstanding. But how is it a sealed room with continual low air venting? My sealed room is sealed for climate control and for sealth. Nothing gets in or out.
