Thin stem issues - stumped

Hi all,

My first plant, by all accounts, looks like it's doing great. Well, except for one issue.

While the stem from halfway up is thickening out nicely (have a breeze to provide some bend and pressure) the lower part of my plant is quite thin.

It's by no means weak, I touched it and its tough, like a small branch kind of tough, but I'm worried, at some point, it will snap because it isn't thick enough.

I'm on week 3 - well draining soil - water Ph is 6-6.5 - started very low nutes last week (Biobizz grow and root solution)

Pics for clarity.

I've had plants do this from seed and I normally just repot it and bury it a little deeper allowing the soil to be at the base where it starts to get bigger. If you're in flower I would just use a bamboo stick or something to prop it up so it doesn't fold under the weight. But as you flower the stem will thicken up eventually and probably won't have an issue. If you clone it I would pinch the bottom of the plant to break the cell walls after it's grown roots and it will thicken up pretty nice after a good week of repair. It's the same thing as super cropping just adds more girth to the stem from repairing it after you pinch it. I would try with bringing the soil up to the base as your first step tho.

Hey Highguy

Thanks for the tips! I'll try your repotting method and see how it gets along, thanks a lot!

Not a problem. Also that looks like it might be a lanky strain which I would use low stress training to keep the plant low to the pot. This will allow the bottoms to grow up as tops and you will end up with a bushy plant. Also if you fim the top instead of topping when you bend the plant down you will end up with less stress and allows the bottom shoots to meet up with the very top of the plant and will end up growing at the same height. This is one I trained for 5 months. Constantly bringing new shoots down to get more tops.

I just repotted it today, buried that thin stem, so we'll see how it goes. I'll give it a week to get settled and then I'll set about with LST. I had to look it up, as I'm new, but it looks straightforward enough!

Hi man, just wanted to update you - I FIMed my plant yesterday, wanted to post here to check I did it right.

Also going to start LST soon, but wary about doing too much too fast and freaking my plant out.
