More LED Grow Journals/Experiences?

Problem is, he hasn't raised a finger to look for any good content, that's painfully obvious.
This LED subforum is packed with grow journals that include many, many, examples of top quality LED grows.
All he had to do was start a thread though, raise the question of whether or not there are any good LED grow journals, and you guys are falling all over yourselves to supply him with examples like he's the prettiest girl in the room.
He's lazy, and he's playing off of everyones LED inferiority complex, to troll you into doing his dirty work.

Well at first my search was what LED lights are best. Then my next search was the lights that were most frequently mentioned individually. Then after that, those lights, and actual grows. Reading through the threads in which some were from 2015-2017ish there were issues in grows that could very well have been caused by the growers lack of knowledge. That made me realize I have lack of knowledge(in Lighting Specifically). So that's why I asked for help and continue to read on things like light PAR and UMol. I have been using HPS in combo with CFL's with minimal issues. I'm now at the beginning stages of understanding light spectrums and how these plants use the different wave lengths. I also like the idea of efficiency in the LED subject area.
But to answer your question directly its not hard to find journals at all. To look for a specific light system and find someone who uses it is quite easy, But to find someone who can get through a grow without issue proves more difficult. If I can rule out other factors its easier for me to judge the equipment.

Well there is no filter in search for novice/expert. You read what pops up and make your own conclusions, asking for help does wonders. If people on RIU who had tenure and are proven Green Thumb Growers had different titles to find their post easier in searches it would make everyone's days a lot easier. Proven lights expert badge, proven organic grower badge, proven hydroponic grower badge and so on etc...

Yup watching the insta more so now. Yea I get that I can be misguided, its happened before. I bought a bubbleponics system for $100 dollars when I first started years ago, then I made one for like $20. All trial and error. Just trying to see through the bullshit if I can and keep these plants going.

White led needs around 81-84F to really show its strength. Soooo many of the issues you talk about is down to to low temps: no transpiration : deficiencies : grower error trying to compensate with too much calmag causing lock outs.

Another thing you should have noticed is that much more people seems to run hydro or similar with leds. Its a whole lot harder to keep the plants fed properly with notill.

Thirdly: best light is also relative to price. The most efficient diodes tend to be around 10% better than the runner up. But the runner up is sometimes half price. Running your diodes at half power you can usually find an efficiency boost of around 10%. So it might be that the best thing for you isnt the top light but 2 second tier lights, sporting twice as many diodes as your top light.

It may be easier if you spoke a bit about your situation and took some advice of people who have followed this for a few years instead of taking it upon yourself to figure this out in a few weeks.

Spot on. There are some very successful organic LED growers, but in my (admittedly limited) experience, hydro is more forgiving.

Thank you and everyone else who responded with fruitful advice. I read this and reread it and feel you are absolutely right. Although I'm pretty good at hydro I prefer the organic method. Currently my grow area fluctuates between 82 and 87 degrees F (50-60%H)with a 600watt air-cooled hps and 4ft 4bulb T5 and CO2 supplementation1500ppm (space size about 8ft by 4ft.closed in tarped and drop cloth plastic) Organic soil reused over years mainly amended with compost from the backyard in a 4x2 container. Eventually I would like to make the switch to LED. The flower room resides in a larger area about 20x12x7 I can open my grow to if necessary to resolve heat issues. I have two long can carbon filters that do a great job of scrubbing but I feel enclosing the flower stage is the best way to contain smell. Also with those temps hydro is not ideal unless I do Flood and drain and keep the res outside of the flowering which is more moving parts and right now Im trying to keep some aspects simple. My initial instinct was telling me to start off with a supplemental LED bar, but I dont need any more heat then is already there. Im thinking I may replace the T5 altogether. 1 LED Bar would be less wattage and two would be more(than the T5@200w). That's how I'm estimating heat anyway but since I'm unfamiliar with the heat LED puts off can I get away with 2? I use different bulbs in my T5 to get a better spectrum but im sure its less efficient than an LED that also includes maybe some far red diodes. What do you guys think?

What kind of 600W hps setup are you using that you are finding it hard to manage the heat? The biggest misconception around here is that LED's do not put off any heat. They will definitely warm your space up and especially in a sealed area grow.
You sound like a similar setup to what I have going for flower - a 5x10 smaller room build within a bigger space. Basically a constructed tent with real doors. I manage 2 1000W HPS lamps with no cooling issues and never run A/C, up to 1150 watts mid flower at times. I do however run vented hoods that the naysayers like to bag on so much. It's all a trade off - some put the wattage into their environmental control, I'm laying it down in the lights with a single 80W fan handling the cooling.

Also, to check out some straight scoop on led growing with the successes and woes from someone who actually has used both and doesn't sugar coat things check out some of brother @hybridway2 's threads. Just be warned he will most likely let you know how much he likes Amare.

Damn, that's impressive! Here is my fixture for a 600watt super hps bulb, yea amazon got me to pay 78 bucks but now $85 haha. About 20 feet of vent hose with one 90 degree turn to get it out of main room. Pretty Sure I'm gaining a couple degrees because I'm venting back into basement, but I have a large basement and the furnace is on anyway so it is what it is right now. When its time for AC to run in my house is where my current setup works best. I think I benefit with the slightly higher temp with my C02 anyway. How in the hell are you running TWO 1000 watts? Blows my mind! Oh yea a 400cfm fan about 2 feet in front of light in another room blowing through the whole setup

Sounds like you just need to dump the heat from the lights outside. An isolated system that draws outside air in and pushes it through the lights and back outside would do the trick. Plus not evacuate the c02 from your space.
I run a single 8" Fan/Filter mounted up high and Y'd to 2 6" ducts which push through my hoods. From the other side of the Hood air is moved outside my "Grow Box" which is just dumped inside my garage. I am in a very mild summer climate. When garage temps rise to the set point on my gable vent fan the garage is vented and thus cooled.
Works like a charm for me
