Choosing led lights to replace hps

I have a 2x4 growing space and have been using a 400w hps light. I can’t run the lights when I’m not at home, but have been leaving a few cfl’s on. I’m thinking of either buying a tent and putting cfl’s in it to run when I’m not home, or getting led lights, not sure what to upgrade to, or which led’s to get.

I use meizhi 900w (345 actual draw) LEDs in my grow. I have 2 of them supporting life for 5 plants in a 3x3.
Oh and two smaller cheap walmart LED bulbs just because I had them laying around. These Meizhi's are producing monsters and rock hard buds.
Do your own research. YouTube has a lot of Intelligent people doing reviews of lights.

But for your tent size, I would suggest 1 1,200W (540 actual draw)

Oh and pay no attention to the cluster fuck of cables in the background. I ripped it off its wall mount trying to grab it for balance like an idiot.:dunce:

It’s a metal halide lamp and gets pretty toasty. My house is really old and I’m worried about it catching on fire.

Well I can appreciate what your saying but its no different for anyone else and we all have to go to work and leave the lights on.

Grow room fires are mostly caused by things not been plugged in properly causing arcing. Or by things not been properly secured.

Just practice basic common sense like don't let your light touch surfaces, make sure its hung on something that cant melt or become loose, make sure all electrics are raised , preferably above knee height and don't mix water with electricity.

You hit the nail on the head there buddy and I will coat tail off your sentiments and add,
check your equipment daily, all of it. Multiple times if you can.Every time I enter my room I check every single piece of electrical equipment in my grow room to ensure everything is functioning properly. Even ensuring my electrical timers are functioning properly.Just recently I discovered one of my timers broke. I caught it 3 hours after it broke. I knew it was 3 hours because that's how far behind it was when it had stopped moving. And that was during my flowering stage. Had I had not caught that when I did, My lights would have stayed on for who knows how long.
And my fans are on a different timer, So my fans would have shut off when they were supposed to but my lights would stay on pushing my Room well over 95゚.
Checking your equipment is just a good habit to get into.

Too bad they are sold out of all the V1's now. I bought 2 260's and 2 135's while they still had them. And it's not like I need more lights, just couldn't help myself, lol.

I run my HPS and MH lights at night when I am home, like 7 pm to 7 am, that way I am home if anything bad happens....and possibly asleep, so I have top quality inter-connected smoke and heat detectors, as well as an extinguisher, and a hose. Plus the meter readers don't come after 5 pm, nor any other service companies, unless an emergency.
When I was 16 me and my buddy burned his parents house to the ground while they were away for the weekend. Don't wanna do that again. :fire:

Yeah.. there were 12 in stock when I ordered my two.. it went to 10 and now @ nine.. probably be sold out by Saturday.. I could see a problem brewing with available quality LEDs coming with this virus.. production is behind and I'm not sure we're taking Chinese imports yet. Amazon is getting hit with CV in their warehouses too.

NYC is getting buttfucked right now, lotta ports are running on skeleton crews.

These look very interesting. @Airwalker16 has mentioned them and got pictures of them running up in the another thread. The board size and the way the diodes are layed out is quite unique. Has anyone confirmed the spread shown on the amazon product PPFD map?

I bought HLG stuff, but those lights look really nice. I don't have any experience with them, but am sure they would impress.
And @Airwalker16 is no dummy, so I would listen to what he has to say.
