Hi all,
I made a video on how to setup a RDWC with 8 buckets and a res outside of a 4x8 tent. Its kinda long ( about 30 min ) but i tried to cover all the parts one would need to get setup. Hope this helps someone who is trying to get started in rdwc.
Please note, i am not an expert or claim to be one, but i spend countless hours researching a setup that was not over costly and semi easy to do(for most people)
so use this guide if you want and feel free to make changes to fit your needs.

Cheers

that setup will pay for itself after 1 harvest.

Looks good! I did the same thing except 4g buckets from uline, 8 in a 4x8 this last run was about 4.5lbs. Paid for everything pretty much and I splurged a little (a lot) on some items as well. Great job

You mind if i ask what lights you used and what strain? also how long for the entire process from veg to harvest? i started Jan 8th and still got about im guessing 2 more weeks to go.

I have two sets of led strip lights, similar to your Spydr’s. I was in veg for 3 weeks and flower for 8 so 11 weeks total and the strain was wedding cake from clone

Did you explain how the float works in your res tank? Is that used when new water is added?
I'm sure I did but if your wondering then the float is for my auto top off. It's connected to my 5 stage reverse osmosis filter and it fills the res with just clean water when they drink. Every few days I supplement nutrients until I do a full res change

Grow Ace sells a complete Oxygen Pot system that is a likely improvement over this DIY, although it is well done

At first I thought why do this, why go through so much trouble to make the plumbing. Then it dawned on me that if you stick with pure DWC in a small space, the plants' growth makes it nearly impossible to check nutrient levels and pH on all the buckets. When the plants are large and branches twisted with each other, you can't lift off the top to make your checks. The only solution to that I can think of is to cut windows in the lids for access, then cover the windows with light-tight material, to prevent light from hitting the water and causing algae. I guess the advantage of RDWC is having only one large container outside the grow making your nute level checks much easier. That's the only advantage I can see at this point and was wondering if there's anything else. Anyway, Nice set up. A lot of trouble and money spent, but the result speaks for itself. Good stuff there.

ROFL... The entire point is to eliminate air pumps and stones. Waterfalls in ever bucket require them to be connected to flow back to the reservoir to be circulated again. It's not just convenience of mute checking. Although the res makes it too easy to just fill your system. you don't even have to open your tent.

OMG u nailed it, once they grow and mature and if u use say a scrog net or something like that then u can forget checking anything. I have tried a few times to just lift the lids a little bit to vacuum out the small amount of water when doing a water change and that alone drives me crazy. RDWC does not only help with that, It is a way to move the water around constantly and distributing nutrients all over. I started last year with a few buckets in DWC no circulation and ended up killing a 5ft tree because while trying to bring down the ph i added the ph down too quickly and the roots absorbed the ph down instantly and the plant got fried. after that i quickly realized that its risky and not worth managing any more than say 2 buckets. So if you are growing 1 or 2 plants, sure u can do just a dwc and manage each one separately, but if u setup an 8 bucket or my next setup is going to be 48 buckets there is no way in hell to manage that 1 at a time ( hahah sorry for the long post)
