Spidermites vs CO2

5.5 weeks into flower and I see mites. One plant is the most affected. I cut leaves off where I could and will wipe leaves down tonight with 1:1 isopropyl using a q-tip.

BUT I want to kill these bitches......All of them.

So I want to buy a co2 bottle and gas them. The space I need to gas is 10x24 8’ tall. That’s roughly 2,000 cf of air.

What size bottle to open up the valve and walk out ?

Shit I tried this many moons ago and was unsuccessful. In fact if I recall correctly I was worried that my plants had lost their momentum due to the over concentration of Co2.

I can’t speak to the levels needed to kill the borg though.

No fun. I've had them too.

But. I too suspect the plants will suffer more than the miserable mites.

(I had them in veg. Used spinosad successfully. Monterey Garden brand.
Yes, it affected the pistils.)

I have 3 no pest strips in that bitch and one of them is hanging on a fan. The mofos are dancing across the leaves like it’s Mardi grass....

As I recall I was in week 4 or so and I just babied the round, removing leaves and wiping shit down everyday until I harvested.

In your situation, based on Where you are in flower. I don’t think you’ll see to much damage if you work at it. If your in a tent with just an lb or two then wipe down your effected leaves every day. If you got a room pushing weight, you’ll be fine. But still wipe stuff down. In my experience mites will fill up an 4x8 table in a couple weeks to the point of webbing and grossness.

Of course your gonna have some mite shit and whatnot but it will be minimal.

I would Never consider spraying anything once I saw bud sites.

I was planning on running the room warm for a few days while I’m hand cleaning them then after about 5 days gas those bitches......wait 5 more days and gas their asses again. By then I’ll be ready to chop or a week or so away.

First slow them down, get temps down around 80 lights on and try and get to 65 lights out. RU up a bit 50-55 Then you need to start treating with a few different products. I use Smite, Dr. Zyme , and before trichs 70% ISO 50/50 with water and a few drops of dawn. With all I take in shade and spray underside of leafs then tops. Let sit while you do more. Good spray bottle and RO water to rinse top to bottom. Every 4th day rotate your spray for a few weeks also a good preventative. You have to kill both mites and eggs throughout a whole life cycle. Also keep your tops “dancing” with the fans, I read they can not lay eggs in the wind. And it seems to help also your plants will get some defensive growth. I am still seeing a few, under leafs most dead and dry, no eggs (white/silver balls on bottom of leaf) after a few weeks. Good luck , there is a reason we refer to them as the Borg.

I have the fans blowing 24/7 and these mofos will lay eggs in the wind. They migrated to the top where it’s warm but it’s windy and there are eggs. I see that with my own eyes......

I have a 16” oscillating fan 24” from the plant and a no pest strip hanging IN the plant.

I have virtually every spider mite cure except the CO2 bottle to gas with.

I thought about chopping this one plant, it’s a different strain. But I’ve also considered leaving it and let them have it......sacrificial plant.

I have literally seen a friend take a shop vac to his buds to get to harvest ...no shit. As far as smoking dead bugs and poop,, you don’t even want to know the allowable amounts of animal and bug remains in our food supply.

Was out looking around on my property and found rose bushes covered in spider mites. Sprayed them with some outdoor poison and killed them all.

I’m going to keep spraying every 3 days for the next 6 weeks with several different poisons. I bought a 30 gal electric sprayer that mounts on a golf cart.

Are you using Hot Shot no pest strips? They work but you need to keep you fresh air flow very low. I had three strips in a 5 x5 x8 area, you'll need more. I have a vent fan that comes on about once an hour for 5 min. and it seemed to work. Usually I run the vent 50% of the time. It took about 10 days of reduced air flow along with fans blowing hard to finally see dead mites. Also I used some neem seed or neem cake mixed into the top of the soil, cleaned grow room with H202 35% with soap and hot water, and sprayed home defense on fan intake filters and floors. I also used Nuke-em on leaves lightly but that was more for preventive measures. I'm clean now but gotta look close every day, never let my guard down now. Seems like once they "get going" on a plant you're better off to throw it away. I ended up tossing 3 plants this year.

Yes, hot shot no pest strips. 3 of them in a 10x24. One hanging on a fan, one hanging in the affected plant and one just hanging up in the room. Sealed room. I turned the outside vent off to concentrate it.

I think it’s slowing their reproductive activity but that’s about it, it’s not killing them
