Old post yes, but information still valid. I Imagine hundreds and hundreds of subscribers have joined since 2009 so maybe somebody might find the information here helpful.
Hell this is 10 years ago, exactly when I joined lol.
Yes but honestly there is no right answer.
A noob will get a few ounces and a seasoned grower will get a few pounds.
Some growers use 1000 gallon fabric pots and bigger who get much more then 10 pounds a plant. Lol see...no right answer

Valid point - But hopefully more new grower see this thread and don't ask the same question.

In so cal I have done summer grows in pots. I germ em and go from solo cup, to 1gallon, to 3 gallon and then to final pots. This year, I’m using 10g plastic pots with light colored cloth pots around them to deflect heat. FF soil mixed with quality potting soil and perlite. I’m doing a Sour Diesel and a Cannatonic CBD. Started them in mid-May and topped them several times for 24 colas. SD about 5’ from dirt, and Cannatonic about 5.5.

In pots, the oz/gallon rule seems about right: 10g pot will yield 8-12 depending on the strain. I did once get 17 oz of Haze in a 10g pot!F4544E09-BDF3-4EC9-B8A5-8BF9DFDEFA08.jpeg03C08EDE-60B0-4379-83CD-D6265F9D6658.jpeg

Update: when I harvested in late September, my final yields were 27 oz of huge tight Sour Diesel buds, and 20 oz of Cannatonic. Plant were only about 5’ tall, in 10g pots. Key is topping, training, spread canopy as it grows, etc. Did not realize that it was possible to get those yields from a 10g pot!

Nearly two pounds from a 10 gallon pot? Do you have pics?

10 lbs per plant is average outdoors, see pic:
Would be great to know the area in oregon that you can yield 10 or more per plant. ?
Thinking of relocating from Norcal, researching the weather, elevation, day length etc, and would appriciate more information about massive yielding strains, that are mold resistant, finish earlyk, that would be suitble for the north part of Southern oregon.
I grow in 400 gal smart pots, make my own soil less, coir based grow mix, feed and prevention- spray organic. Ph 6.5. average 10 of clones, 15 of seed, in NorCal.

Here in SoCal I recently harvested, and was able to get 3lbs of Cannatonic CBD in a 15g pot, and 25oz+ in 10 g pots of Purp Punch, Maui Waui and Koshur Kush.

Started seeds in April, topped often to make 20+ colas. Payed close attention to nutes, control of bugs and mold, etc. to minimize loss of buds.

Thats a Great yield from a 15 gallon pot! plants look good too...
unfortunatly for me, lost my home and crop in the bear fire. thats the teason for the research into Southern Oregon's possible yield and mold resistant strains.
do you mind sharing the county you are in?
Thank you for sharing. Happy Harvest!

Los Angeles County. So sorry about your loss! I am just sick over the forest mismanagement and the subsequent out of control wildfires we are seeing yearly now. I'd been dreaming of retiring up north in the Sierra foothills, but that dream is literally up in smoke...weed is legal here in Cali, but the state is no longer the great state I grew up in. It just sucks in all areas, except, of course, for weather. LA area is filthy, overcrowded, packed with homeless people, etc. Lots of dispensaries, though...

Thank you. Fortunately, got out in time with the cats and dogs.
Yeah, cali isnt what it used to be, homeless people & meth users south to north.
fire season is getting longer and more horrific every year. hoping this hard lesson will lead to better forest management.

About your Dream, what area/county were you looking to retire in?
love california, being able to grow giant plants outdoors. Hate fire season, and the fact that its definitely a part of living in beautiful California.

I loved the Coarsegold area east of Fresno below Yosemite, and Gold Country- Placerville area east of Sacramento. Beautiful, and relatively low housing cost, but now almost impossible to even get fire insurance, and after this season even harder and more expensive to get. People paying $3-8k for fire insurance alone on a sub 1,500 sq ft house- if you can get coverage...just sad

Are you from Illinois as well? I am and could help you out with some insight as to what can and can't be done, legally.
