The biggest issue I see is a pump failure in the control bucket.

Agreed - that would be the single point of failure in such a system.

Assuming you have the whole system running off a single circuit, if you have your "delivery" pump on a timer that will never supply more than half the sump's total volume during any fertigation cycle, then even in the event of a power failure, your system would never overflow.

The alternative would be to go "overkill" on the sump's volume (say double?). That way, you'll have 2 chances to catch an overflow situation before it gets out of hand.

Here's me with no experience in such systems thinking-through possible "outlier" situations/contingencies...... Anyone would think I know what the fuck I'm talking about!

Thanks everyone for the input and links. I am thinking of using a bucket or maybe garbage can as the control res that sets the height of the flood. Basically the same as this system but sitting the pots in a tray like a regular F&D and flood the tray instead of each individual pot.

So when its time to flood, the main res pump turns on and starts flooding the trays and control bucket. Once it gets to the correct height the float turns on the pump in the control bucket and it pumps back into main res maintaining the flood level. After 5 mins or so the pump in main res turns off and the pump in control keeps pumping back to main res and as water always finds level they trays will empty along with the control bucket until its gets low enough to trigger another float that turns control pump off.

The biggest issue I see is a pump failure in the control bucket.

Edit: I think if the trays are a foot or so off thr ground will give enough room to plumb the F&D fittings which will allow the trays to empty before the control bucket gets too low for the pump. There will always be enough water in the control bucket to cover the pump and it will get flushed at each feed cycle.

If the control bucket high level float switch turns on the pump out, when that float switch changes state it’s going to turn off the pump out. There’s another low level float switch to turn that pump off when the level is low. Wouldn’t that mean when the control tank fills the lower float switch would turn on the pump therefore it never filling?

Fairly trashed last night, took a good 5 to 6 hours to give the green crack a quick trim an h2o2 wash.

Seems like the best of both worlds which ever way it leans. In theory that is lol but should hopefully get something decent. The seedlings are strong can’t wait to move them out of the veg cupboard and into a tent. It’s over run in there and there start to get over run by the clones. I’ll probably just veg 2 weeks in there top once make sure I’ve got enough clones and flip. I just want to see what there is and then dial the best 2 pheno’s in the next run.

Yeah its a hell of a cross ay. Ill be keen to see how they go im yet to order mine

That's a good point but I have seen a system where they did it. Will need to dig that out again and see what switches they use.

I gave a few caps to a chick an she mixed in with her rolly tobacco an smoked it said it ripped tge fuck outta her never even thought of doing that.

Thats kinda how we used to do it back in the day, run a line of oil across a cig. You dont get the full hit though like u do ingesting or using a Dab rig.

I’ve been looking at something like the IWS flood and drain system. I just don’t have the patience to work it out. Not easy

He brought-up some tincture of 50/50 Leda Uno/Critical mass (my last-year's crops) & dosed me up in a bit of milk. Frightfully good fun was had by all. He said that the pure Leda Uno tincture is better & I have no doubt of that.

BTW, I dropped the scotch/scissor hash about an hour ago......very nice!
