Hi guys, this is my first post ever to the forum. I am just after starting an indie grow and my question is how many plants should I use per pot? Or should I just use one big pot for each plant? One time I lived in the USA and I bought Ed Rosenthal's book names closet cultivator. If I am remembering it correctly he said that a person should use four pots per plant, stepping up every time so that the plant doesn't become rootbound and stop producing. The problems I have with this idea, is, first of all, since the book was stolen off me years ago by a crap friend I went and looked for an online version of the same book and found it but could not find anything about using for plants per pot, and so now I am unsure if I ever read such a thing at all! The other point I wanted to make was I see people all of the time just using one big pot and they seem to get on just fine? The pots I bought were 550ml, 3 litre, ten litre and twenty five litre. An I bettwr off using four pots per plant or one big one after the 550ml pots? The strain I'm growing is Master Kush from White Label seeds, I chose this indica dominant plant because I do not have all that much headroom. Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you so much!

I was planning on using four pots per plant, starting small and working my way up the five gallon pots I have. But it would be easier if I could just go straight from a solo cups to the five gallon pots, skipping transplanting them to a three litre pot from the solo cups and then to ten litre pots and then to the five gallon pots. Basically, what I want to know, is is it okay to start your plants in a big pot and leave them in it until harvest. Or will they get rootbound if I do this and stop producing?

I transplanted my clones straight to five gallons after solo cups and everything was perfectly fine and they are super happy. So i hope that helps in some way lol.

I like to up pot mine a week or 2 before changing to 12/12. Fresh soil and nutrients to get through flower. The amount of repots up till then doesnt really matter.Yes, one plant per pot, yes I understand, but how many pots per plant, is my question, not how many plants per pot
I grow in a water only mix though.

I like to wait untill the roots hit the edges and bottom of the solo then transplant up to a slightly bigger container and again wait till roots hit the sides. I do this through four different sized containers then into a 3 or 5 gal. Reason being is to first build a good strong root mass to supply a good strong plant later.
