BROWN Pistols but CLEAR to CLOUDY Trichomes. Harvest????

Just a quick question. Looking for some guidance. I have a plant that has matured nicely, and is looking thick.

the pistols are now really turning brown and shrivelling up, but the trichomes are clear to cloudy, maybe a bit more on the cloudy side. I see no amber trics.

Some poeple go by the pistols and those with scopes (i have one) go by trics.

Shoudl I harvest or not based on this info.??? Thanks everyone.

you should harvest when you look at the plant and it looks ready measuring the trics are overrated dude just go by your gut

How can you guys say it's over rated???

It's how I judge every new strain I grow, and control (somewhat), what type of high I will have.

I think saying follow your gut to a new grower is bad advice in most cases....Good luck JR

growing outside in my experiance different parts of the plant will have diffent colors i mean the damn things flower for like 5 mounths

I pulled one of mine too late. It was the most beautifully sugar coated bud laden plant I ever saw. Doesn't get me high at all. Its like tylenol compared to morphine. They both get rid of the pain but only one gives u a buzzzzzzz.

hmm thats good to know tennis1, how could it not get u high though, how much did u smoke. and dude at the top i would just go by your trichome development, size, smell, and when almost all pistols have dried but not all. hope u get super blazed

always use the trich`s for harvest, not hairs. clear to cloudy will be the most potent. going into amber is when the THC is degrading and this is when we get the couch lock burn out smoke. peek THC is usualy by about week 5 to 6 in most indi dom strains but with no CBD or CBN it hasnt got much of an effect nor lasting power then.
to be honest nobody can tell oyu when your harvest time is as all our brains and cb receptors are made diff in our brains so we all want it cut at slight diff times. only way to know whjat works for you is to cut some at diff intervals and this also goes with each diff strain you run as all will be slightly diff.

for me most i like to cut at cloudy.

While the "go with your gut" advice is probably the best, it assumes one has learned how to listen to "the gut." This usually takes experience (not weed growing, just life experience). So, while the gut may be the best way to go, I'd say
in lieu of that ability, examine the trichromes, as this just requires eyes and a microscope and some basic translation skills (mostly clear = too early, mostly cloudy = just right, mostly amber = too late).

If you wait too long the plant will have passed its potency period, and not give you any buzz.

Need help on harvesting I don't no how to add pics but my hairs onmy plant r brown and curling into the nugs but when Ilook at theshroom lil things there all clear still. Does anyone now if its time for me to harvest??? And does anyone now what whould happen if I do cut some of the mature colas and let the otherones grow more and get more ripe . Would I get hi of off it or do the lil shroom things have to get amber?? Hairs have color and are curling most the plants hairs r curling and brown but shrrooom looking things r still clear.

Some people test a small sample before committing to whacking the entire plant. Some people harvest the top and let the lower buds go a while longer.

harvesting too early is disappointing! and some strains's trichomes never seem to darken - I've blown past peak harvest before by relying too heavily on the color of the resin. try taking a bud you won't miss off of the plant too much and speed drying it in the oven on low heat or with the pilot light overnight - you will get a much better idea of how much the flower will shrink when dried and if it will be dense or airy. you'll also get a really good idea of what kind of effect you'll get, and although the flavor does suffer with the speed dry, i think it's better than clipping a bud and waiting a whole week to test it - a lot can happen in a week!

My Trichomes are turning milky but the bud still has a lot of white hairs to grow into bud... so I’m going to let it take its course and see what happens

Where are you checking your trichs from? Many check it from the leaves and that is what screws them up because the ones on the leaves mature much faster.
It's good you are waiting. Do you have a pic of the bud to show us?

Always wait until you see more than 1/3 of the tricks turn amber, then cut. If you cut too early with clear tricks and only some cloudy, then you are gambling on whether your crop will smell like vegetable matter and have no robust "fully ripened" aroma. Plus, huffing on clear trichomes can deliver a more erratic and jittery buzz. Wait another 10-days and check the trichomes with a fresh battery loupe. I buy my loupes direct from China, cheap, and throw them away when the light dims. I planted them in 3 gallon pots and cut holes in it to air the dirt. Idk. Still learning . My 2nd plant is showing big buds, so I’m learning I guess
