24/7 lighting to hide power consumption

In the past I have employed a method of using 3 rooms to grow indoors.

#1 large room to vegetate for 24/7 and
#2 smaller room to flower for 12/12
#3 smaller room to flower for 12 12

now when room #2 goes into darkness room #3 comes on... the goal is to have continuous power draw on my electricity.

my reason for doing things this way is that I am convinced that its not necessarily THE AMOUNT of power you draw (within reason) but instead THE TIMING of the power you draw that raises suspicions.

now before u get to posting that the blank time between firing up the the lights between the timer switches on the two rooms can cause suspicions let me tell you i'm fully aware of that. however in my opinion... its MUCH less suspicious doing it this way when you're pulling 3000+ watts overall.

i've observed people that do pretty heavy woodwork in their garages with power tools or even people with indoor music studios that draw some serious power ($1000+ light bills) and they never get a knock on the door. however I have also observed copters come a flyin around town when some nube decides to setup a grow (1000 watts+) and it seems its always around flowering time they come knockn doors down.

Anyone else agree with this or am i just a paranoid ass stoner?

You can always run a flip flop and use one ballast for two lights (one in each flowering room) to hide your flowering cycle and save the cost of a second ballast...

you mean installing the timer after the ballast and run a "Y" connection to the lights? hmmm i never thought of that... good thinking... damn good thinking.... that would take care of the dark spots and spikes between firing up seperate ballasts.

just gotta get a nice device to make sure both lights dont come on at the same time and blow a ballast and light my breaker box on fire.... wait even if both bulbs were plugged into the same ballast they would just fire up dim right? it wouldnt blow anything...

You're also a paranoid stoner. None of the above matters you have a small grow, it's not big enough to even become a blip on anyones radar unless you screw up in some other way.

Also choppers aren't going after 1kw grows, they can't even see them it looks just like a water heater or furnace or anything else that throws off heat there's no way to tell the difference unless you use your light to vent straight into the attic and heat it into one giant hot spot.
Even still, they need more than that to knock down your door.

well... i know they need more than that to come busting in but i've always felt that timed power consumption alongside snitches are the main two things they use to identify a Growhouse... however i do see what u mean... but i'm the type that likes NO ATTENTION WHATSOEVER lol.

i mean... even if you are running several different devices in the house... and you constantly have a spike every damn day for 1500 watts that cuts on and off on time all the time every damn day... if i was a cop... and i had an automated system to monitor electrical usage... this would be a definite sign of weird activity... thus my paranoia... unless i'm giving them way too much credit like you mention.

none of my other devices in the house would exceed 3000 watts at one time so i always have that constant basis of X amount of watts running continuously that couldnt possibly be a TV or a washer or a water heater that i'm running for 12/12 on the dot every day... see what i mean? or maybe i'm worried like someone thats doing a 10k+ setup...

No matter what way you look at it there will always be a spike in any light cycle unless you're running autos under 24/7 light. Could use a random timer for flowering... LOL Fuck you'd end up with a weird ass hermie

NOBODY is looking that closely at the tiny little bill you will have. NOBODY You will have a power bill well within range of a residential home. Start buring mad power 20, 30+ kw then maybe but only if you don't pay your bill on time.

And they can't use flir evidence to even get a look at your bill, something else has to come first before flir is authorized by the courts. They cannot just cruise around town looking with flir it's illegal.

also, if you have a meter reader come out out to your house to look at the electric meter...

then they have NO idea when you are using the power... they just know last month is was that, now its this... this - that is how much you pay.

unless you are in a highly dense urban area where they bill you for power at different rates (1 rate for day, 1 for night) in which case they have to upgrade your meter... There is no need to worry about timed usage.

Im new to the forums here but I definatly think some folks on here buy into the fact that cops need a warrant to use FLIR or other procedures far too much. I think we all need to always be under the assumption that cops can do whatever the want whenever they want. All they have to do is FLIR your house illegaly and then "find" probable cause to get a warrant and use FLIR. As far as the 12/12 power consumption goes, I doubt the power company would notice. Like the other person said you could be using power at a specific time for welding or a timer on a water heater etc. Also as far as I know cops need another warrant to investigate your electric consumption.

Even 24hrs light we could tell! But its not as much of a red flag.

the biggest tell is when we could see when there was a great voltage draw this is caused by the igniters that spark the discharge lamps, there is a great very unique draw to ignite the discharge lamp which we can see, when the bulb is first ignited, its only when they reach full brightness this then drops. Its a very, very unique power draw nothing else like it. LEDS are completely different but still unique, the transformers instead step down the voltage which we can also tell, but a great deal of people use LED for down lighting in their ceilings but these only draw 100 / 300w in houses. We can even tell when people open their fridge due to the power it takes to re-refrigerate, invasion of privacy I know!

The best way to hide it is use Tesla modules to charge and discharge the electricity, you can even charge Tesla modules at charging stations if you want to be super under the radar but a advanced charging system would need to be setup to charge at the 50kw charging speeds, no electrical company will report high usage its only if they see a correlation at certain times of the day lights on / off as people could have 1 electrical heater per room! Thats 3kw, if you have 10 rooms thats 30kw per hour 720kw per day! Some people just dont realise how much a electrical heater costs in power.

When you say fair sized grows, just curious what that would be. Are we talking a 10k (lights draw) room or something smaller?

Also curious, was there like a standard that had to be met for ya'll to report or was it literally just anything suspicious from what you were saying in your post?

Completely agree, every electrical appliance has a signal that can be identified.

Wow your guys revived a really old thread but I know people still worry about this. While he is right that they can tell about everything about your electric use from a smart meter. They don't care, pay your bill. Don't tell anyone, trust me the ones you don't think will tell will or they will tell someone else. Don't get into domestic disputes or commit any crimes, keep fire extinguishers so you don't have to call fire department for a kitchen fire. Master your carbon filtration and replace when needed. The goal is to never give the cops a reason to come for any reason. Almost every bust I see that isn't from someone telling was from the cops or fire Dept coming for another reason.

The electric company sells a product they want you to buy it, pay your bill. Don't steal electric.

I mean there are limits to it don't run more amps than you safely can, and I wouldn't do anymore than 4-6k watts per 1000sq ft of house, unless you have several large garages or outbuildings.
