Nutrients don't "help" a seed into a female plant either.

This site is a place to add input based on experienced. I'm ensuring that future readers are aware that your comments are based on a lack of experience.

I'm using black gold organic soil. Wasn't planning nutrients for a couple of weeks. I'm used humboldts secret A&B base and Golden Tree.
Wondered about males turning to females, didn't make sense. Basically it will turn into a transtesticle or some shit.
I have very hard water. Put tap water in cool air humidifier, white dust on everything. Wiped it down and put regular humidifier with distilled water. If I run tap through a Brita pitcher will it remove enough stuff to use it in humidifier? If I soak a towel in tap water and hang it in tent will damn minerals coat stuff on evaporation?

Again I'm learning here and want to keep it as simple as possible.
This was in a book I'm reading about sex of plants affected by the environment. This guy is pretty reputable. Pics attached.
Some things you come across are confusing. Sounds like a seeds sex isn't set in stone and outside conditions could affect sex? Damn. I'm just trying to stay in the female happy conditions in the tent.

I've tried most of the methods listed there a few times. My results were no different than making no changes at all. Each to their own though. I've literally got an entire grow environment (clone, veg and flower tents) set up specifically for experiments like that. It also acts as my breeding environment.

If a sure-fire way to get a regular seed to grow into a female plant reliably existed, we wouldn't need feminized seeds ;)

Haha, truth.
Appreciate the help. I can see that I need to practice "keep it simple" and not complicate the new hobby.
I'm excited about learning here. It was like Christmas this morning when the sprouts broke ground.
My wife is still working on accepting the fact that her soaker tub in the master bath is now a grow set up!

LOL. Don't tell her it only gets worse from here on out. I use our entire basement (two entire grow setups and storage), part of my office (clone tent and grow automation electronics lab), a closet in one of my spare bedrooms (male plants that are about to drop pollen), an entire spare bathroom (mixing nutrients and the mix tanks. This bathroom is off of my office). Throw in a shroom cabinet and things are spread around everywhere.

I keep things very clean and tidy though, and someone entering the main areas of my house wouldn't notice a thing.

All that and my wife still helps me trim :)

Haha, that's awesome. I'm already looking at rosin presses and accessories for making carts and other concentrates!
I'm only growing four in the tent. Extra females go to an outdoor space to see how they do in nature.

You can give them some N when they pop through soil and keep on them with small amounts. That can help reg seeds stay female. Stress will add to males so small cfl lights for 1st 2 weeks I've had good luck. Reg seeds are the way to go if you are patient fem seeds are great but not as good.
Did you get that information from youtube?

Jesus read what I said you retard. Not nutrients. N that means nitrogen not nutrients. It seems to work that's all I posted.
Nitrogen is a nutrient. And how do you know it works? Did you conduct a controlled study to arrive at that conclusion? What was the methodology you used? Care to share how you arrived at your findings? Just saying it seems to work without anything to back it up is meaningless.

I'm not planning any nutrients for the first couple of weeks since I have black gold organic soil. I have Humboldt A&B and Golden tree and they recommended staring right away on their feed chart.
Is holding of a good idea?
I have tent at 78 degrees with 50-55% humidity. Humidifier and wet towel hanging. Exhaust on low with one small fan in tent blowing.

If your medium is hot (ie. already has nutrients in it), then yes, holding off until the plants tell you that they need feed is a wise idea. When the bottom true leaves start to fade yellow, that's the time to start feeding. Begin at only a half-dose of the manufacturers recommendation, and increase upward over time if necessary.

Thanks for the advice. I have 8 kids and 7 grandchildren. Damn seeds sprouting got me excited like I just had a litter!
Thanks again.

Jorge is a damn good grower and there is lots of good information in his book. Unfortunately I think that piece of information is more stoner science than anything else. It would be interesting to see what type of study he conducted to come to those conclusions. That's if there was any kind of actual study done at all.

Sure yes straight N is a nutrient not nutrients. And I stated that giving a regular seed a bit of N when watering will help out. I've always use reg seeds after trying a few fems that hermied with regs being a 50 50 shot I had a ole grow friend point me to adding some nitrogen which he was doing. Maybe just luck I guess from how the gurus have boosted but I get closer to 85% of all regs turn female. If my math is correct that's better than the 50 50 i was used to getting. My bad for trying to add input from experience without scientific proof.
