Home made soil mixes from the garden store?

They have a lot to offer as far as peat top soil perlite mushroom compost manure etc. I like pro mix but it isn’t cheap. Any good soil mixes from scratch? Thanks. Made a outdoor garden ft peat top soil and perlite. I want to incorporate these cheap garden staples into my herb garden

My best outdoor I ever had was just mushroom compost and water.

Verm heavily depends on if you're in ground or potted. I'm sure area is a huge factor too.. more sandy ground then it's a great idea. But unnecessary in dirt IMO
