Lol, I'll take your word on that. I live in heavy woods, with lots of deer and never once had a deer fuck with my buds. Blackbears, yes. But they tip pots over lol

Yeah, I was having problems with moths laying eggs on my plants( turning into borers) so I looked into mothballs. Those things are straight up poison

You can. Hunting and taking out a nuisance animal are two different things.

For some time, I lived up north in British Columbia, very close to Alaska. Yes, wildlife is in extreme abundance. It isn't out of the ordinary to have several bears, moose, deer, wolves and coyotes walk by your house even in a single day sometimes (especially in late fall). Also yes, there's so few people in the area the people understand that we're infringing on the wildlife's space, not the other way around.

Unfortunately, I was forced out due to forest fire, but I've regrouped and have been looking for another property up there.

I'm much happier spending time with animals that can eat me than I am spending time with people in today's world. (and no, I never interfere with wildlife. I just observe, study their habits and particulars and practice tracking).

8' fences are the only thing to keep deer at bay up there. Mind you, very few cannabis strains finish that far north outdoors, so for a decent grow, a greenhouse is needed anyway for warmth, so the plants are already protected.

I've been in the back country all over the contiguous states. People always ask if I'm afraid of encounters with wildlife. I always say "No, the animals never have ulterior motives. I'm only afraid when I encounter people in the wilderness. I never know what they're going to do." I'm in the wilderness for encounters with wildlife. And to "go to church." Amen.

I've gotten myself into very dangerous situations in the past, usually by stumbling onto something that I didn't hear. Such as twice finding myself between a mother bear and its cubs (once was a black bear, the other was a grizzly/brown bear). Knowing how to behave depending on the animal is important. However, if I ever did get attacked in the wilderness, I would look at it that I was trespassing on land that they were on first, and they won't attack me for robbery or other human purposes, it's out of necessity.

I carry bear spray at all times.

Here's a picture of Theo, a moose who lived a few hundred yards from my house where my cabins are located (he always slept beside my sauna cabin, which is the one depicted). He resided there in the winter so he could eat the low-hanging branches from my willow trees. He'd keep my apple trees pruned as well, and nibble on the branches the bears broke before hibernation.

me too, north of the 45th parallel..... Right about the time most cannabis is about to be done with flowering , pretty much everything else vegetative in the woods is dead and dying, And woodland critters are opportunistic feeders..... But when I lived in the southern part of the state I never had any animal mess with a cannabis plant that was past the seedling stage..... I guess it's a matter of options, I dont like kale but if that's all there was to eat , I'd eat kale lol

My pet rabbit, Gandalf, loves kale. It's the backbone of his very well rounded healthy diet. I don't like it myself though. Awesome thing about most strains of kale, is that it's extremely durable and hardy. I've had it planted in my garden for three weeks already. It's the only seed plant I can put out that early. It'll grow even after frost hits.

If I had to eat it, I've got it in abundance.

Man kale is good! Make some chicken and kale soup......good shit! And then just fry it with some garlic and olive oil.........man its good. I know I'm weird lol.
 
What is the consequence of you did shoot them?

Or Are they living in built up area's?

Just curious as I live in New Zealand we don't have a tag system here you can shoot as many as you like.

edit: i have 60+ acres of valley creek and river lots of lots of deer and i havent had a issue yet with them, we have not made a agreement like you did lol but they seem leave them be. also they walk and bed right next to 2 of mine
 
Most piss just turns to ammonia in a hour or so It don’t work believe me I tried. I’ve been hunting my whole life and always piss were im hunting and never fail to fill my tags.

Deer get pretty brave around yards, the lights or sprinkler comes on suddenly it will spook them but they wont run far if nothing chases them . Keep the lights on and it wont be long before there eating under it. As far as walking the dog and them just standing well thats what deer do, they stand there still as can be until they know for sure there busted. Take the dog off the leash and see what happens. The deer here know every dog in town,whos on leash whos not and probably when they go out or in. Try other repellents like capsaicin or plant skydd. Plant skyyd is a blood meal product. Blood odor is a danger signal but blood meal obviously a nutrient too so something to consider. Maybe best to not uphold your end of agreement if your good with it. You get a freezer full they get a necessary lesson win win
