HELP me please.

can someone help me by telling me whats going on with these plants? they have the claw, canoeing, bubbled, and cracking leaves. I just changed to a new light for this grow t5 HO 4ft 8 bulb setup with a box fan on low. I am not sure of the proper height for the light I tried 12in and it seemed like the plants were getting crinkly so i raised it to 18in. I am also using a new soil fox farm ocean forest which I don't like so far and the plants have been in one-gallon pots for 2 weeks. I am not feeding nutrients yet.

I don’t think the t5 is gonna cut it. Good for seedling and clone lighting, but not for veg. I would recommend something a little stronger. Are you in a tent? And FF forest does have all the Nutes you need for now, but what type of water are you using, tap/RO/distilled? Might not hurt to add some calmag to your your watering schedule. I don’t necessarily see any cal or mag deficiency though.

Although I personally recommend you increase your lighting, what you have in place atm should not cause any issues. I have kept plants under the same light as you back in the day for a very long period of time... months, with no issues.

I'm gonna have to say over watering on this one.

And I agree, do not feed any nutrients for a while if that is straight ffof.

The first photo... I can tell from the droop it's overwatering. Do the leaves feel really firm and stiff??

No worries man. FFOF is a little hot, but the plants will acclimate after a bit. Also t5's really should be close, like a couple inches once the plants can deal with it. Start them higher at first of course though.

Here's some plants I vegged under a t5 last year. Now I'm playing with QB's.

Oh ok, didn’t know you planned on growing outside. Sorry I can’t help there. I’ve never grown outside

It could even be the strain...and sometimes, the ones with the twisty weird leaves in veg turn out to be the best. I'd just let her go and keep an eye on it

That soil looks pretty wet. You don't need to water everyday. I keep my T5's no more than 6 inches from the tops of the plants so I don't know why you'rs would need to be 18 inches away.

What's the point of adding Calmag if you don't see any cal or mag deficiency. Some CalMags have a decent amount of nitrogen which tholse plants don't need in that FFOF right now.

T5's are fine for vegging.

What's the point of adding Calmag if you don't see any cal or mag deficiency. Some CalMags have a decent amount of nitrogen which tholse plants don't need in that FFOF right now.



T5's are fine for vegging.

Well GH calmag only has 1-0-0. That ain’t a great deal of Nitrogen. Secondly, RO and distilled water doesn’t have any nutritional value hence the reason why people use it in the first place. Secondly the point is to prevent the deficiency not try to stop it once it’s there. I use tap water that’s been sitting out for at least 24 hours to get rid of the chlorine, and I still use calmag even though when using tap water it isn’t necessarily required. I’ve NEVER had a Ca or Mag deficiency, not that I’m saying he does. I tried the T5 light vegging method and my plants look way better under a stronger light, but that’s just me. But hey, he’s not staying indoor anyway so it doesn’t even matter.

They are nice and green. You must have got a bag with some nutes in it. They should adapt just fine. Be careful of over watering though.

I watered them when I first transplanted them from solo cups, then I watered them 3 days later when the moisture meter was close to dry. that is when I noticed these issues popping up I figured it was overwatering or the light. so I raised the light and stopped watering the plants until the soil was dry using a moisture meter about 5 days. then I watered the night of me posting this thread. WOW after typing out what I did maybe I over watered the first week, freaked out dried out the plants, and deprived them of enough light the second week. does this sound like the likely cause? will the leaves recover or will I need to clip them later after the plant gets stronger?

my first grow last year was a piece of cake not one problem. but this year is starting off rocky hopefully they recover so when I put them out in the middle of next month they take off in their new homes.

However, I have indica strains that grow deep green naturally, and the reason I backed off of the N toxicity thoughts was that there's absolutely no red or purple in the stems, which is another indication of N tox.

3rd picture down with tips clawing and the pic with the reversed canoeing makes me think it is but yeah would agree with ruling out PH issues first.
