Im so torn, i have my seeds arriving soon and im not aure about my light setup.
Im using a 2ftx2ftx5.5ft tent with a 5 gallon bubblebucket. My current light is a ebay special "1000" watt which they said pulled about 300 watts from the wall. But who knows.

Now i purchased it in 2014 and its only been used twice. Last time i pulled 5oz dry from the same setup. So i know it works.

However its 2020 and il very interested in trying the mars 1000 which everyome says is a great light and pulls watts at the wall give or take.

And then i saw this thread about autocobs and how 1 autocob at 60 watts can grow a great plant

So would you:
Use blurple light at "300" watts for free
Buy mars ts1000 at 150 watts for around 180$
Buy 2 autocobs 3500k at 110watts for around 240$

What would you do??

I would check out HLG, Timber, Spider Farmer, and Fissioning. Stay away from blurple.

I have all HLG's, but the Fissioning boards look pretty nice.

Well hlg looks like i have to add a heat sink and stuff and i was looking at more plug and play.

The spiderfarm seems to be pretty close to the mars from what i reviewed

Timberlights the 2 lights seem to be about 200 watts but im paying about 100 more then the mars/spider for 50 watts. But it looks like you can dim them hmmm anyone else

For HLG, I would recommend this, but it's out of stock at the HLG site. If you do go HLG, use coupon code "RIU10" for 10% off.

There are DIY HLG lights and plug and play options. I just bought an HLG 65 for supplemental lighting and all I did was plug it in. I also run a SpiderFarmer SF2000 in the same tent and have to say it's a really nice lamp.

Timber is 100% worth the money from what I've seen. They're just great lights. Sure your paying more per watt but your getting a killer light for the money.

Also, I've never seen the Fissioning before but it does look really nice.

The MarsHydro is an upgrade over what your currently using but it's definitely not as nice as those other options.

Appreciate it so you think regardless ditch the blurple???

Since they are out the hlg, that wouldnt be what i want so it would be between Mars/spider 150watt vs timbe duo at 210watts vs autocob...hmmmmmm

Mars and Spider Farmer don't even come close to comparing to Timber. If you can afford Timber then I would get that. The HLG-65 is only suitable for a 2'x1' or 1.5'x1.25' grow space for flower.

The Hlg 65 seems weaker then of the other choices
Oh ya, I wasn't suggesting it for you, just mentioning it as an example of a plug and play HLG lamp.

As @TreeFarmerCharlie said, the Timber is far and away the best light of the group. If it's in your budget, you buy the Timber. I ain't gonna lie, I regret not just buying a Timber light this go around. The SF2000 is a good light but once I started adding supplemental lighting I basically could have just bought one timber fixture for what I spent.

I think the timber is a little high fornmy one plant grow ive narrowed down to either 1 hlg135 or doing the two autocobs

How much weed do you smoke/need? If 5 oz is enough to last you awhile I'd just use the light you have and grow one plant every few months. 5 oz would last me 5 months or more. I can grow enough with my 600 watt HPS in one grow to last me over a year so I'm not replacing it anytime soon. I'd rather spend the money on single malt scotch and Gin than a new light.

The light you have is overkill for a 2x2 tent if it ready pulling 300 watts. 75 watts per square foot. I know it blurple so you are missing some wavelengths but last grow you pulled 5 ozs? So that’s about 1/2 gram per watt. Not great in itself. But That’s 35 grams per square foot which is respectable. You could probably get the same or maybe better results with a 120-150 watt full spectrum light.

I have this light and I love it. Turn down the amps slightly to take care of the really insane amount of heat it creates at full blast

Growers Lights has the 135 in stock.

If you're choosing between the Mars and the Spider, I would pick the Spider.

I like the Fissioning one even better than the Spider, but haven't personally used either one.

People on here will tell you that the driver is perfectly fine getting that hot (which it probably is) but I was taken back by how hot it was, like couldn’t put your finger on it for more than a couple of seconds hot, But if you take the plug out and adjust the LO which is an abbreviation for amplitude by just even a tiny little bit then it helps dramatically. There is like 11 little notches outside the tuning screw and I turned my amps to 9.5 notches. That’s not Super precise I know but anyone with a MeanWell driver will know what I’m talking about if you look into the adjustment hole. I’m rambling here. Ugh but yeah the heat isn’t too bad once you get it set right my tent is at 77 F. And with an exhaust fan then you’re fine. That shit ran so hit after I put the kit together I was worried the driver was going to melt something internally.

i do like how I can adjust it way down for small seedlings so I don’t have to rig up some CFL’s or whatever just throw them in tent and ride.

I’m not gonna sit here and act like I have a ton of experience because I certainly don’t, but from what I’ve seen/heard HLG is the way to go. That being said if I had the money I might look into Spider farm as well
