Grow Tent - Vent Question

Grow tents all seem to have these rectangular vents at the bottom that are usually secured with velcro. Can someone explain what keeps the light from coming in when these are open? Wouldn't you only want them open during the daylight period? If so that seems like a lot of work taking them off and on every day. Does everyone use these vents or is it something I should not fool with. I am setting up my 4x8 tent and have a carbon filter and a 6" ac infinity unit ready to install. I am going to be growing in a detached garage with good ventilation (exhaust fan in the roof). My main concern is light leak if I utilize these vents as I don't want any to stress the plants and turn any of them into hermies.

Suggestions?

I use the vents to keep the humidity at bay Sense I live in a pretty humid climate, but I take them off and on every day when I give my plants the 6 hours of dark

If you forget to close them wouldn't it turn the whole batch into hermies if it was on a 12/12 cycle?

I have one flap open as my passive air intake. It also serves as the point where my heater blows into the tent. I don't grow my plants on the floor of the tent so I don't think light is reaching them with lights off. I also hung a makeshift "curtain" to prevent areas of light reaching that side of the tent.

I don't use them on my tent.
Added an intake fan with an intake filter.
But if I do use them, I make up a panda sheet cover/curtain as mentioned. I also keep my room the tents are in dark. Just in case.

Best to use ducting to bring air in and its best to have an air filter (or sock in my case) to stop bugs and dust.

Yes you will self your plants if light leaks in.

i keep my open for freah air since i dont have fan for it yet, room is pretty dark, window covered. have some auto in flower now doing ok but i will get a fan later.
