$200 for a 1/10hp is not expensive. I don't think you should venture to much further I to rdwc if you're not gonna be able to run a chiller. That’s hella expensive
People have taken dehumidifiers apart and stuck them in water, then used a pump to pump their nutrient water through a tube that's coiled under that chilled water, to chill their systems water. I have seen that done. What if you took a small beer fridge apart and put it in water
Dunno... Make sure it's completely sealed. Give it a shot I guessOk so I was thinking about my fridge comment. Take it apart.. blabla.. but then I thought, why not just have the fridge BE the resevoir. A beer fridge, laying down with the lid on top. It has to be water proof, have the fridge on a timer that turns the fridge on every X hours. With a low temp cancel sensor. I should do it.
Been attempted by many. Fails every time. You really, with chillers, have to bite the bullet and just decide to invest the money it costs to use one. You'lol never regret buying one once you've got it installed and working though. Dipping your finger into that nutrient water and having it always be nice n chilly, puts a smile on your face.@SnidleyBluntash... when i first read your ideal of laying the fridge on its side i thought what a great ideal.. but you cant lay a fridge run on its side or back becease of the oil in the compressor. it will lock the compressor up. thats why when you haul a fridge on its side your supposed to leave it stand up for some time before plugging it in.
but if you do a search for building your own chiller. you can drill a couple of holes in the side and run your tubeing. good luck
