Are the more expensive seeds worth it?

I see, you're not here to fight about this just to spread myths and disinformation unchallenged. You should know that most fems are regular crosses of two different genotypes, just like regular seeds. You can in-cross or out-cross just as you would with males. Only a minority of fem seeds are self pollinated. Inducing females to produce pollen with silver doesn't genetically alter the plants.

Gregor Mendel used selfing in his genetic experiments over 150 years ago, it isn't a new technique or one exclusive to Cannabis. I first learned about Mendelian genetics, alleles, meiosis, punnet squares, etc... in 9th grade biology class. At the level we are discussing it is hardly an advanced science.

It is important to me because many, many growers believe the myths and disinformation around fem seeds and this affects the market for seeds and me. Not only does it reduce demand for female seeds but many of these growers who believe the myths become stem rubbing chuckers. Regs are worse for the gene pool than fems since every generation made with stem rubbed male is a regression to the mean.

A regular cross requires a male and female plant. It’s a regular cross because it produces REGULAR seeds, really rather simple.

With enough generations couldnt you turn a fem into a regular by constant crossing with males.

If regular seeds all have the ability to produce hermie fem seed that can be turned back to regular in many generations thats kinda saying all seed have all ability so how would regular be any better than any other crazy breeding pattern.

And then we went and got these criss crosswd seeds from the wild where this has happened over and over and we made different seeds then said regs are better than femenized with no real basis to the argument. Kinda crazy.

I never bought into the hype of expensive seeds; *UNTIL* I ran Ethos genetics. I'll forever use their lineage of beans from here on out lol. Sprouting seems to come on faster, roots explode in no time, and I've yet to harvest one that didn't blow me away.

A Good reputable breeder will spend a long time isolating a good pheno and this ultimately cost the customer in the end but I would not have it any other way IMO.

I agree. When I find a strain with the traits I find appealing, I want the nine other seeds in a 10 seed pack to have those very same traits consistently. Otherwise, one may as well just buy a 10 pack of random chucked seeds.

Yeah but what is the difference between a grain of pollen with an X chromosome from a male and a grain of pollen from a female? If you do not know which it came from, Is there any way to tell the difference, even in principle?

Absolutely agree, but even some of the big seedbanks are occasionally less than honorable.
RQS is a fine example of a great name in the industry, with slick marketing and the gimmicky crap that attracts newbie growers but their genetics are hit n miss at best. E.G. from 8 NL auto seeds (on sale!) every single one was different and all but 1 was utter shit and that's just the tip of iceberg: that's without the horrendously bad customer service they supply.
Think we need more bad experiences to be told, best case: seedbanks get their shit together.
Worst case: they go outta business as they deserve.

These are in 60/40 peat/coco.

Must admit, they always do well this strain but these are worryingly big with a couple of weeks to go.

Thread makes me want to find some stable f4 or whatever. Every time I grow seedsman blueberry it’s always the same. Only plant I ever had like that.

I have only ever used nirvana seed bank and they have always sent me quality genetics at fair prices.master kusk.northern lights .bubblelicous.white widow.og kush.gsc.aroura indica- one of my all time favorites very strong.bluedream.ive heard good things about Cali connection .well I've seen there genetics thru a freind who runs them.818 is one of my fav or Tahoe og.

Off the top of my head dc seeds has oni, hazeman, dynasty, and bog seeds. You can't go wrong with any of those breeders.

Aside from those @dubekoms mentioned, also can't go wrong with Useful Seeds. Ive heard good things about Katsu too. I just dropped some Key Lime Pie. And they carry Mephisto which is as good as it gets for autos.

Yeah man Mephisto would be my top choice but I can’t find anyone with them and the Mephisto website isn’t working for me. I had to go with Fastbuds instead

I would say that expensive clones are worth it. Seeds can be unpredictable. But rooted clones on the other hand.. I told my friend I would have payed over $100 for one of the Blackwater OG (Short Indica Pheno) clones he gave me after I found out what it really was
