I paid around 400 for my 1/4 hp so you definitely got hit over the head a little, but its a great piece of equipment and worth every penny. Glad this thread gave the right information to somebody

Dont cheap out. If you plan on growing for awhile pony up a couple hundred and get a proper chiller.
It would be embarrassing & sad to get caught because you built something and caught your house on fire

I was going to get 2 thermoelectric ones but after reading here I figured I'll just get a better one. I have a kickstarter thermoelectric ac that supposed to cool a 450sqft place. I am hoping that will cool my 3x3. It has seperate cooling for the condenser with an intake and vent, separate from cooling the air in the tent. Should be good to run with my co2 when I am ready for it.

Anything with thermo electric type cooling will be garbage. You need a water chiller with some refrigerant in it. You're cheapest and easiest option is the active Aqua on Amazon. It's not TOO expensive but definitely an investment. Well worth though in my opinion. RDwC + Water Chiller go hand in hand in my eyes.

Agree. Here i Canada you can't get a 1/10hp chiller for under $500. I would stay away from anything used myself, no warranty and who knows why they are selling.

Normally it is ok to transport a refrigeration unit in any orientation. The problem arises when it arrives at its final destination. The refrigeration unit is designed to operate only in the upright position. This has to do with the way refrigerant and lubrication oils settle inside the unit when it is turned off. The system is designed to leak down after it is turned off, so that when the it starts again, the compressor can start easily due to the low pressure on the compressor side of the system. If the unit is started soon after righting it, or while it is on its side, refrigerant may build to high pressure levels immediately upon startup. This is a good way to burn out your compressor. In short, there is no issue with transporting it that way, but it is always recommended to let it sit upright for at least a day before attempting to start it.

I grabbed a 1/4 hp eco and I would do it again, yeah they are expensive but money well spent, can pay back on your first harvest. My system wouldn’t be possible without. The advice 2 months ago was good advice and 290 was a great price.

Ya I'd feel bad for someone I told to buy at 290 and missed out

I drove up to denver to get my 1/4hp for $150. Thing even still smelled like new plastic. I dont think he was lying when he said he used it once for about 3 months. He was making a major switch after the laws changed and getting into crypto mining

Yup, I paid $150 from a homie of mine and gave him $25 to ship it. So $175 for a 1/10hp 2012model EcoPlus. Things a fuckin TRUCK. The 1/10hp active aqua kicks ass too.

Swap to coco if it’s too hot for dwc wo chiller....way cheaper and easier to deal with. Go back to dwc during winter
