Water cooled $5 Samsung strip build

I just thought everyone should see this cause it's done way differently and more clean than any other water cooled setup I've seen. Having the 1" or whatever size square piping that is acting as a heatsink with water going right through it is pretty slick...

Was not happy with the spread of my qb288 build for my 2x4 grow box build. Picked up a dozen of the 3k strips to experiment with and this is what I came up with. Running 8 strips with a hlg240h48a. Will run from 104w up to 290w. Took par readings at 12” in the center. 104w = 334 par, 290w = 853 par. Tested the lights air cooled with no fan. At 240w the frame exceeded 130 degrees. The water cooler is just an external radiator. View attachment 4554447View attachment 4554448View attachment 4554449View attachment 4554450View attachment 4554451
Nice build. Here's my water cooled light with Bridgelux EB strips.

build looks dope with the water-cooling on max your running like 72 watts a strip how well does it keep cooled but in general looks awesome.
Max I will run them is 40w strip. I want to keep this box running around 70 degrees growing lettuce for testing the efficiency as a whole system. It is in an in unisulated shed and will be run sealed with Co2 enrichment.

Legit @Broke Richard . I wish I could weld - I used to race cars and at the shop where we did all the work, I never got involved in fab outside of the cutting and measuring - I was more the grease monkey type and always helping with installs/take aparts - it's one of my big regrets.

That is badass sir. your welding skills are great! Soon as i seen the welds i knew we was outta my range of reach....
I have used welding out of need with different projects over the years. I have only been welding Aluminum projects in the last 6 or seven years. AC TIG produces the best aluminum welds for me. The welder and gear can be a considerable investment. Luckily I have lots of friends that need welding done that has helped pay for my gear.

Yeah dude that's what bothers me bc I used to have wide open access to a TIG and a couple of MIG's. Nice work once again - respect.

Well , when it comes to tools , any tool , then its part of the op. (even if the op is watering grass :D ) I have zero problem buying a good welder , im young enough to use it a few dozen times to pay for itself. The problem lyes in teaching me how to weld ! I only know a couple welders and they are a bit too old to care about teaching me. I think with the right mask i could learn myself to weld metal together but aluminum is a whole other ballgame , i was always told that only comes with experience. Youve got perfect welds on 45* angles!
Does that new shit on tv work ? shows people welding an soldering little shit without the solder iron or welder.

I think he is referring to alumiloy. It is aluminum brazing. It is harder to use than a tig welder. Harbor Freight sells a version. I will tell you to not waste your money on that or aluminum stick welding rods. They both produce crappy results.
What's the way to go, in lamens terms?

i was comparing to the as seen on tv crap. when it comes to actually buying a welder from harbor frieght , i would ask around first. Thats one thing i dont think i would buy from there.
HF has their junk, that's true, but they usually have higher end models of everything that's pretty good quality.
