Serious Issues with my Plants

Hey guys,

I seriously don’t know what’s wrong with my plants. On some of them, the leaves are turning crispy and yellow and curling downwards. I’m so clueless as to why. The PH is at a good level, temperature and humidity is perfect. I tried watering down their nutrient solution in case they were getting too much nutrients. Nothing seems to work. It doesn’t happen to all my plants even though they’re attached to the same system, but just a few. At first, the look completely fine until they suddenly start yellowing at the tips. Then before I know it, the whole leaf of dried and wrinkled. Any solutions? I’m in desperate need of help.

Is the plant being sprayed by that drip ring? Leaves constantly wet with nutrient water can toast them. Light too close?

Yes, the drip ring is constantly active except at night. Should I start leaving it off then? And I don’t think the lights are too close, they’re about 4-5 ft away.

Bring lights closer so they can actually photosynthesise. 4-5ft is waaaaay too far away. Try 18-24" and the dripper is okay. Just be sure it's not getting the plant itself wet. They're usually used near the media(clay pellets) and at stem level.

Well, the drip rings are the reason the leaves are constantly soaked. When it was time to transplant my seedlings into the hydroponic system, I didn’t have quite enough clay pebbles so I had to set them deeper into the bucket system, lower than the drip ring so it has constantly dripped on them for about 2 weeks now. As for the lights, I’m using 4 powerful LED grow lights (I attached the exact type of lights I’m using) inside of a 60”x60”x80” grow tent, so I figured I’d keep them a bit further away to prevent light burn. If you think I should move them closer still, I’ll take your advice.

You're missing like 90% of your hydroton in there so I don't see how they'll root properly. In one of those pics it looks like the water level is as high as the hydroton, but it's tough to tell. I think even if you get the roots into the res here, you're going to have problems with light getting in there too.

The salt from your nutes is frying your leaves. Fill the pot with more hydroton. Bury the stem. Cut off lower nodes if you have to. Get it up higher. And keep your drip ring LOW so it doesn't touch your plant whatsoever. Your plant doesn't need to get wet at all.

Will cutting off the lower nodes slow the growth or anything? All but one of the plants have established fairly decent root systems, so I’m not too worried there. I turned off the drip rings and ordered more hydroton.

No, lowest nodes usually don't turn Into much anyways. Don't cut them til you got more hydroton tho.

get a 2liter bottle (clear) and cut off top and bottom and put that around the plant. it will keep water off leaves. but add more hydroton if you can.

Or just cut off the legs to your drip ring to like an inch or 2 long so you can set it on the hydroton where it belongs.
