Can anyone vouch for the Maxibright 3k agro 600w CMH bulbs that use an E40 fitting and a standard reflector and magnetic ballast? Im so curious in em im halfway through my hps flowering but im about to drop 190 quid on 2 bulbs to make the plunge into the CMH world....they are very new bulbs and i cant find reviews anywhere online so if anyones used some please do tell me what theyre like. cheers.

No experience with Maxibright. Is that a UK manufacturer?

Hopefully they will become available in the US. I'd like to try their 315 bulb.
Yeah theyre actually called Maxigrow, theyre based in uk. They just called their Horticultural products Maxibright.

A magnetic ballast will be sine wave as the utility supplies, at the same frequency 50 or 60 hertz.

I have a Maxibright 315 cmh but havent tried the 600 watt since it cant be run on a proper low frequency ballast.

Still might be better than a 600 watt hps though.

So what youre saying is these bulbs wont give CMH results? Surely its still using the cmh technology inside the bulb so it has to be better than hps?

Interesting. If they made a 1000 watt I'd try one in an old magnetic ballast I have but they only make a 600 watt.

Maxibright's 600w CDM lamp is the first lamp of its kind that doesn't require a specialised ballast. This means that you can take advantage of CDM lighting without having to upgrade your other hardware!

  • A great entry point into CDM lighting - just replace your old HPS lamp with this one
  • Compatible with old-school, magnetic HPS ballasts (but not digitals)
How Maxibright 600w CDMs Work
These lamps represent the easiest way to upgrade to CDM lighting. If you're already running an HPS system with a magnetic ballast, then all you need to do is unscrew your old lamp and screw in this one - that's it! You'll then have access to all of the benefits of ceramic discharge metal halide lighting. These lamps generate much broader spectrums than typical HPS lights, which improves the quality of the end-product while keeping height levels down and using the grow space more efficiently. CDMs make excellent standalone lights, but they're also great as supplementary lights in HPS set-ups.

i used to run Philips 400w CDM many years ago. same thing, needed to be run on a HPS mag ballast. they must mean they are the first with a 600w.
